Come with us overseas and learn about La Gomera’s history!

Description

Starting from the south of Tenerife, we are going to travel back in time during our visit to the nearby island La Gomera. We take the fast ferry (Fred Olsen) to La Gomera. Then we drive through the beautiful valley of Hermiqua, travel through the forests of El Cedro and then continue on to the famous Garajonay national park. We stop for a delicious lunch at Mirador Abrante, a unique viewpoint over the Atlantic Ocean with a view of Mount Teide on Tenerife.

Then we stop for a lunch break at a high point on the island while you watch the locals perform the so-called “Silbo Gomero”, a unique language composed of whistling sounds. The language used to be used as a means of communication in the mountains and is still being taught at school today.

During the return journey, you will drive through Chipude and El Cercado. You have a chance to admire the impressive Rock of Agando and see how it originated from an ancient volcano. Learn about the culture of San Sebastián and visit the church of Asuncion, where Christopher Columbus prayed before embarking on his journey into the new world.
