El Hierro Day Trip
El Hierro is about 10 times smaller than Tenerife and has been recognized as a Global Geopark and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. It’s also the first island in the world to be fully self-sufficient with renewable energy from wind turbines, solar panels, and other green energy sources. On this El Hierro Day Trip, you’ll see incredible views, volcanic landscapes, and charming little villages. We’ll make stops at breathtaking viewpoints and enjoy a traditional Canarian lunch along the way.
El Hierro Day Trip from Tenerife – Program
Note: This tour is currently not available. Due to changes in ferry schedules, it’s not possible to visit El Hierro in the morning and return to Tenerife on the same day. We are working on future options, and if the tour becomes possible again, it will likely be by ferry instead of by plane. This will depend on whether the ferry schedules allow a morning departure and an evening return.
Our usual itinerary starts at around 8:45 AM. We begin at Mirador de la Peña for breathtaking views, where you can enjoy a refreshment at the café. We then explore the charming towns of Valverde, El Mocanal, Erese, and Guarazoca, each with unique scenery.
Scenic Peaks, Cultural Stops, and a Taste of Canarian Tradition
Next, we drive along the San Andrés peaks to Mirador de las Playas for more stunning views. Our journey continues to Restinga for a 45-minute break. Afterward, we pass through Hoya del Morcillo before descending to Frontera, where we stop at Mirador Cota Ochocientos and visit the Candelaria church. Here, you’ll also experience a traditional Canarian lucha (wrestling) match at a local terrero.
Lunch is served around 2 PM, giving you a taste of local cuisine. After lunch, we head to La Maceta with a brief stop at Punta Grande Hotel to enjoy the coastal views. We wrap up the day with a scenic drive back to the airport, passing through Valverde and enjoying the last sights of this unique island.
