Every year, Tenerife throws its own Oktoberfest: authentic German beer, hearty food, live brass bands and a proper festive atmosphere, but with island sunshine instead of Munich rain. There are two main celebrations, in Puerto de la Cruz and in La Laguna, and both are free to enter. Here is everything worth knowing: when and where they happen, what to expect, and how to get there, including group transport if you are a bigger crew.

Oktoberfest Comes To Tenerife

Oktoberfest is not just about German beer, it is a whole cultural celebration, and Tenerife does it well. Local hotels, bars and restaurants join in, there is live music through the evenings, and the food runs from classic bratwurst and sauerkraut to Canary Islands twists, with vegan and gluten-free options too. Whether you love traditional German folk or today's hits, there is something to get everyone up and dancing, and the sunshine makes it a very different Oktoberfest to the one back home.

The Two Oktoberfest Events In Tenerife

Oktoberfest Puerto de la Cruz

Explanada del Muelle · usually late August · free

The bigger, established one, held on the seafront in the northern town of Puerto de la Cruz. Big beer tents, live Bavarian bands, food stalls and a lively crowd. This is the one Club Canary has run south-to-north transport for in the past.

Oktoberfest La Laguna

Plaza del Adelantado · usually September · free, all ages

Held in the historic square of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. German beer alongside Canary and international brews, a dedicated gastro zone, and vegan and gluten-free options, with live music and a friendly, all-welcome feel.

Both events are free and run over a few days. The exact dates change each year, so search the official Oktoberfest Tenerife pages for the current schedule, or sporočite nam and we will point you in the right direction.

Getting To Oktoberfest From The South

Both events are in the north of the island, so from the southern resorts it is a drive of roughly 45 to 75 minutes. You can go by car or taxi, and if you plan to enjoy the beer, a taxi or arranged transport is the sensible call so nobody has to drive.

Club Canary has run a shuttle from the south to the Puerto de la Cruz Oktoberfest in past years. Right now we do ne have a scheduled public shuttle for it, so we would rather be upfront than sell a ride we are not running.

  • Both Oktoberfest events in Tenerife are free to enter.
  • Puerto de la Cruz is usually in late August, La Laguna usually in September. Dates change yearly, so confirm the current schedule before travelling.

Oktoberfest in Tenerife is a genuinely fun night out, German beer and brass bands under Canary Islands skies, and the best part is that both events are free to walk into. The only thing to sort is getting there and back, since they are up in the north and you will not want to drive after a few steins.

We are honest about it: we are not running a public shuttle for it right now. But if you are a group and want private transport to Oktoberfest, sorted properly so everyone travels together and gets home safe, that is our thing, so just message us. Otherwise, grab a taxi, enjoy the beer, and have a great night.
