Mountain Biking In La Palma, Rent A Serious Bike Or Ride With A Guide
La Palma is the mountain bike island of the Canaries: 2,400 metres of height, pine forest trails, volcanic ground in the south and laurel forest in the north, and far fewer riders than Tenerife. Club Canary works with a local shop whose fleet is the reason people fly here with their own pedals: carbon enduro bikes, electric full suspension, hardtails and carbon road bikes, all rented with helmet, gloves and pads. Ride on your own, or book a guided day: the relaxed Panorama and E-Panorama tours for beginners and leisure riders, or Just Trails, a shuttle-assisted enduro day with up to 4,000 metres of descent for riders who know what S3 means.

Is This For You? Read Before You Book
We sell a lot of easy activities. This is not one of them, and we would rather tell you now than argue on the day. Mountain biking on La Palma means steep ground, loose volcanic rock, long descents and weather that changes with the altitude. The shop and the guides are excellent, the protection is included, and the risk is still real.

- You are a leisure rider or a beginner and you pick the Panorama tour, ideally on the e-bike. Forest tracks, small roads, a guide who sets the pace.
- You are a road cyclist who wants the climbs of La Palma on a carbon bike that fits.
- You are staying on the island for a few days and want a bike for the whole stay. The daily rate drops from day four.
🚫 Skip It If
- You are not comfortable on a bike, or you are not fit enough for a day in the mountains. Take the taxi tour and enjoy the same views sitting down.
- You want Just Trails because it sounds exciting but you have never ridden technical trails. The guide will refuse you, without a refund, and he will be right.
- You are on a cruise with a same-day call and want a guided tour. Rental yes, guided tour no; it is explained below.
- You have no travel insurance that covers mountain biking. Get it first.
Bike Rental La Palma, Prices Per Day
A fleet most rental shops in Europe cannot match. Every rental includes helmet, gloves, knee and elbow protection, pump, spare tube, repair kit and a mini tool. The longer you rent, the lower the daily rate. Exact model and size depend on availability, so tell us your height and what you ride.

Cruise guests, this is your product. Ships dock in Santa Cruz de La Palma, and the Santa Cruz shop is in town. Book ahead with your ship's hours and the bike is ready for you. One rule that matters: the bike can only be returned while the shop is open, Monday to Friday 09:00 to 13:00 and 17:00 to 20:00, Saturday until 13:00. Ship sailing at 18:00? Return from 17:00. Sailing earlier? Return before 13:00. Sunday calls cannot be served. Send us your ship's times and we tell you honestly if it fits.
Guided Mountain Bike Tours La Palma
Three guided days, all 6 to 8 hours, all starting in Los Llanos de Aridane, all with a local guide, protection and the transfers needed for the route. The bike is not included in the tour price: add a rental bike to your booking, or bring your own. The route on the day depends on conditions and on the group.
A relaxed full day through the forests and mountain views of La Palma on forest tracks and small roads. Up to 500 metres of climbing, one or two breaks, zero to one transfer. Scenery first, technique second.

The same relaxed day on an electric full suspension bike, so the climbs stop being the problem. Up to 800 metres of ascent, further and higher than the Panorama, with the same forest tracks and small roads. The way to see the mountains without suffering for them.

A shuttle-assisted enduro day: 50 to 300 metres of climbing, 2,000 to 4,000 metres of descent, usually around 3,000, with one to four shuttle transfers. Rough terrain, steps, tight turns. Flow takes the smoother lines where possible but still has S3 sections. The national park is excluded.

Private Groups
A closed group with your own guide, your own pace and your own route is arranged on request: friends who ride together, a club trip, a family on e-bikes. Guide capacity is limited, so book early. For cruise guests this is the only guided option, and only when the ship's hours clearly allow a day from Los Llanos; message us with your dates and level and we check.

- The main shop is in Los Llanos de Aridane, on the west side of the island, and all guided tours start there. A second shop in Santa Cruz de La Palma handles rentals, with bikes brought over on request and advance notice. Exact addresses are on your e-ticket.
- Shop hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 to 13:00 and 17:00 to 20:00, Saturday 09:00 to 13:00. Closed Sunday and over lunch. Plan pick-up and return inside these hours.
- Height, riding experience and preferred bike type for every rider, in the booking form. Without them we cannot reserve the right bike.
- Road bike sizes: S 165 to 172 cm, M 170 to 180 cm, L 180 to 188 cm, XL from 188 cm. Exact model and size depend on availability.
- Every booking is confirmed with the shop first, especially guided tours, because guide capacity is limited. Club Canary confirms by WhatsApp or email within 24 hours, and only then is your booking final.
- Rental: yes, from the Santa Cruz shop with advance notice. Mind the shop hours: a bike can only be returned when the shop is open. If your ship sails at 18:00, return from 17:00; if it sails earlier, return before 13:00.
- Visitas guiadas: not for a same-day port call. They start in Los Llanos, on the other side of the island, run 6 to 8 hours, and a flat tyre or a fall can delay the return. We do not risk your ship for it. They work if La Palma is the start or end of your cruise, if you stay a night, or as a private closed group when the ship's hours clearly allow; message us and we check.
- Panorama and E-Panorama: beginners and leisure riders, forest tracks and small roads, up to 500 or 800 metres of climbing. The e-bike makes the climbs easy.
- Just Trails and Just Trails Flow: experienced mountain bikers only. Rough terrain, steps, tight turns, up to 4,000 metres of descent in a day. Flow uses smoother trails where possible but still has S3 sections. Not for beginners, and the guide can refuse a rider who is not ready.

- Mountain biking carries real risk. You ride at your own responsibility, within your level, and follow the guide's instructions. Travel insurance that covers mountain biking is strongly recommended.
- Closed shoes, sports clothes, sun cream, water and a snack. A light jacket for the forest and the heights; La Palma's mountains are cooler and cloudier than the coast.
- Riders must be comfortable on a bike. Children are welcome on rentals in sizes that fit; for guided tours ask us first.

- Your deposit reserves the bike or the guide and the dates, and counts toward the total price.
- The balance is paid at the shop, cash or card, before you ride.
- Availability is confirmed before your booking is final. Club Canary confirms by WhatsApp or email within 24 hours.
Cancelación

La única excepción
- A real doctor or hospital paper that says you cannot take part, dated before the activity or the same morning. It covers the person named on it, not the whole group. For everything else, your travel insurance is the right route; ask us for a written booking confirmation for your claim.
Weather And Trail Conditions
- Routes depend on weather and trail conditions. The guide may change the route or the day's plan for safety, and an alternative is always offered.
- If a guided tour cannot run at all, you get a free reschedule or a full refund. Rental bikes go out rain or shine.
Safety, Damage And Responsibility
- You ride at your own responsibility and within your level. The guide can refuse or stop a rider who is not safe, without a refund.
- Damage to a rental bike beyond normal wear, and loss or theft, are charged by the shop at the repair or replacement cost. Lock the bike when you leave it.
- Guests under the influence of alcohol or drugs are refused without a refund.
- Cualquier problema debe plantearse a shop or the guide on the day. Club Canary is not on site and cannot process complaints or refunds after the activity.

La Palma is the best island in the Canaries for mountain biking, and we will still be honest with you: this is not a relaxed downhill coast like our Tenerife tour. It is real riding on real trails, with a shop that stocks bikes serious riders fly in for. If you ride at home, you will love it. If you have never been on a mountain bike, the Panorama tour on an e-bike is the one, and the guide will take care of you.
Cruise guests, read the small print. A rental bike from the Santa Cruz shop for a few hours is a great port day. A guided tour from the other side of the island is not, and we will not sell it to you for a same-day call, because a flat tyre should never cost you a ship. Staying a night, or starting your cruise here? Then the trails are yours.
Rent a bike that is better than the one you own, or book a guide who knows every trail on the island. Just be honest about your level, and we are honest back.
