Deep Sea Fishing Fuerteventura, Tuna, Wahoo And Marlin

The Fuerteventura Fishing Boat, The Albakora Cat
A Albakora macska is a 12-metre fishing boat based at Castillo harbour in Caleta de Fuste, kitted out with proper fishing equipment rather than a couple of spare rods. A maximum of about 10 participants join each trip, so there is room to fish without tangling lines with a stranger.
On board there is a toilet and a room to change your clothes, sunbathing spots on deck and seating in the shade. The crew speaks several languages. Smoking is allowed only at the back of the boat.
⚠️ No space for wheelchairs. The boat cannot accommodate them. The trip is also not recommended for expecting mothers or very young children, and we would rather say so now than at the harbour gate.

Is This The Right Trip For You?
We would rather you read this and book something else than turn up expecting a different morning. This is a real fishing boat.
The crew are fishermen, not entertainers. They are properly skilled at what they do and they are not always the chattiest people on the water. Their focus is getting fish onto your line, which is what you want from them.
Dress for it. Clothes you do not mind getting dirty, and expect a splash or two.
Seasickness happens and the trip continues. Any adjustment is the captain's call, and there are no refunds for seasickness. Do not board on an empty stomach, avoid alcohol beforehand, and take a travel sickness tablet 30 minutes before departure if you are prone to it.
Watching a tuna come aboard is part of it. That is the appeal for most people and it is not for everyone. Decide before you book, not on the deck.
Beginners are genuinely welcome. Never fished? The bottom fishing half is a gentle start and the captain helps as much as you want. Under 18s need an adult with them.

- Spectator ticket 59€, with an 11€ deposit and 48€ paid on arrival.
- The balance is due before the trip begins. Cash is preferred on the day.
Lemondás

Real talk: the thing that makes this trip work is the 59€ spectator ticket, and almost nobody notices it. If one of you wants to fish and the rest just fancy a morning at sea, everybody comes. Nobody sits in the hotel and nobody pays full price to hold a rod they did not want. For kids under 12 it is the sensible choice too, because four hours is a long time to concentrate when you are eight.
The four hours split into two hours bottom fishing and two hours trolling, which is a genuinely good structure. The bottom half gives beginners plenty of bites, the trolling half is where the bigger fish live. Nobody gets bored and nobody gets out of their depth.
Two honest things. The crew are fishermen, not tour guides. They are excellent at the job and they are not there to chat, which we think is the right way round. And no catch is promised, ever. Some mornings the rods do not stop, some mornings you get a tan and a story.
One last bit of maths: if seven or more of you want to fish, hiring the whole boat on our magánjárat actually costs less than seven shared tickets, and you get the boat to yourselves. We would rather point that out than take the bigger booking.
