Is Loro Parque Worth It?

Is Loro Parque worth it? For most visitors, yes. It is the best zoo in the world, with orcas, dolphins, gorillas, white tigers and King penguins, plus real conservation behind it. The only catch is the location. It sits up north in Puerto de la Cruz, far from the southern resorts. If you stay in the south, the smart move is a ticket with transport included, so the long drive is never an issue. Give it a full day and it is easily worth it.

How To Get To Loro Parque From The South

The #1 Visitor Mistake

Most websites won't tell you this. Loro Parque is hard to reach from the south. It sits in Puerto de la Cruz in the north. Most tourists stay around Costa Adeje, Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos, over an hour away by car on busy roads with limited parking. Before you book, it is worth knowing if the trip suits your plans.

Drive Times To Loro Parque

Kosta Adechė

about 1h 15m

Playa Las Americas

about 1h 15m

Los Cristianos

about 1h 20m

Santa Krusas

about 40m

Puerto De La Cruz

5m + free train

The Easy Way

Skip the stress. Our round trip bus picks you up in the south and brings you back. No driving, no parking, no map reading. Staying in Puerto de la Cruz? The free yellow Loro Parque Express train runs from Plaza de los Reyes Catolicos every 20 minutes.

Packages That Make It Easy

This is why most of our Loro Parque options include bus service, the part people struggle with. We also build full packages: a cruise port pickup from Santa Cruz for ship passengers, a twin ticket with Siam Park plus bus, and a Loro Parque with whale watching combo by boat and bus. Less planning, less stress, more day at the park.

If You Drive

Parking at the park costs about 7€ per day. Set off early to beat the traffic and find a spot near the entrance.

Is Loro Parque worth it?

For most visitors, yes. It is rated the best zoo in the world, with orcas, dolphins, gorillas, white tigers and penguins. One honest tip from us: in high season and school holidays it can get busy and a little uncomfortable in the crowds. Off season it is really relaxed and makes a perfect day. Either way, give it a full day and it is worth it.

Where should I buy Loro Parque tickets?

Most people buy online, and you can buy direct or through a local operator like us. The price is the same, but booking with Club Canary gives you easy personal contact, especially for transport, where we confirm your pickup place and time for you. If you want it all sorted with real service, we are a no brainer.

Which Loro Parque ticket is best for me?

It comes down to budget and your trip. If you can treat yourself, the all inclusive ticket is the more luxury choice, with a guided tour, reserved show seats and food and drinks included. If you want to keep it simple, the standard ticket is great. Staying in the south? Add transport so the drive is sorted.

How do I get to Loro Parque from the south of Tenerife?

The easiest and most relaxed way is our round trip bus from the south. Driving yourself is honestly not that chill, the traffic can get annoying and you can get stuck. With the bus you just sit back and enjoy the day.

Should I drive to Loro Parque, and which route should I take?

If you drive, always use the TF1 highway. Google Maps often sends you through Masca because it looks shorter, but those are narrow mountain roads, often in the clouds, slow and tiring. Never take the Masca road on the way back, it has no lights and gets dangerous in the dark. If you really want the scenic Masca drive, do it on the way there while it is light, then take the highway home.

Are the Loro Parque buses comfortable?

Yes, very. At Club Canary we use a private bus company with comfortable coaches, not a public bus that stops everywhere. It is a smooth, direct round trip from the south, so you relax on the way, skip the parking stress, and spend more time at the park and less time travelling.

Is there a bus to Loro Parque from Costa Adeje, Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos?

Yes. Our round trip bus picks up across the main southern resorts, including Costa Adeje, Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos. You can book the bus alone or together with your ticket.

How far is Loro Parque from the south?

Loro Parque is in Puerto de la Cruz in the north. From the southern resorts it is about 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes by car on the TF1 highway, longer if you take the mountain roads.

Where is Loro Parque located?

Loro Parque is in Puerto de la Cruz, on the green north coast of Tenerife. Most tourists stay in the south, so it is worth planning your transport before you go.

What are the Loro Parque opening times?

Loro Parque is open daily from 9:30 to 17:30. Arrive early to catch more shows and enjoy the park before it gets busy.

What are the Loro Parque show times?

Shows run through the day and last about 20 minutes each. Sea lions, parrots, dolphins and orcas all perform. Times can change, so check the board at the entrance. The orca show can be cancelled in bad weather, so catch an earlier one to be safe.

How long do you need at Loro Parque?

Plan for a full day, around 5 hours. With over 400 species, four shows and several walk-through habitats, you will not want to rush it.

How long are Loro Parque tickets valid?

With Club Canary, your ticket is valid for a one day visit within a 90 day window. You choose a date when you book, but you are not locked to it, you can go any day from that date within the 90 days. With the twin ticket, you visit one park first, then have 90 days to visit the other. So book now and decide your exact day later.

Does Loro Parque offer free cancellation?

When you book your tickets and transport with Club Canary, you get free cancellation. It keeps your plans flexible, which is one of the easy perks of booking through a local team.

Is there parking at Loro Parque?

Yes. Loro Parque has parking, including an underground car park, and there is usually enough space. It costs about 7€ per day. Free parking nearby is limited, so arrive early or it can be tricky. Easiest of all, take our bus from the south and skip parking completely.

Can I bring an assistance or guide dog to Loro Parque?

Assistance and guide dogs can usually be accommodated, but as this is a zoo with sensitive animals, it is best to arrange it in advance. Message our local team on WhatsApp before you book and we will confirm the latest rules so your visit goes smoothly.

Can I bring my own food and drinks to Loro Parque?

Loro Parque has several restaurants, cafes and snack bars across the park, so you will not go hungry. Rules on bringing your own food can change, so if you want to bring something or need a picnic spot, ask our team and we will check the current policy for you.

Can you smoke at Loro Parque?

Loro Parque asks visitors not to smoke near the animals or inside exhibits. Any smoking is limited to designated outdoor areas, which are marked around the park. If this matters for your visit, ask our team and we will confirm the current spots.

Can I book Loro Parque for a big group or corporate outing?

Yes, and we love organising these. The price is the same everywhere, so Club Canary is a no brainer, you get our concierge service on top, and our team is reachable every day from 8am to 10pm. We can arrange a private group experience with your own guide, a behind the scenes look, and a reservation at Brunelli's restaurant. Each one is bespoke, so it is not on the website yet, just reach out. See our team building page at clubcanary.com/team-building or message us.

Can I visit Loro Parque from a cruise ship?

Yes. We offer a pickup from Santa Cruz cruise port, a full day at the park, and a return before your ship leaves. It takes the stress out of a port day.

Is there a Loro Parque and Siam Park combined ticket?

Yes. The twin ticket covers both Loro Parque and Siam Park, the top zoo and the top water park in Tenerife. You visit each on a different day, and you can add bus transport too.

Is there a resident discount for Loro Parque?

Yes. Resident pricing is available on the standard, all inclusive and twin tickets. Just message our local team on WhatsApp and we will sort it for you.

Is Loro Parque good for families and kids?

Very. Kids love the shows, the penguins and the white tigers. There is also Kinderlandia, a play zone with the fun Orca Train ride. It is an easy full day for all ages.

Can I do Loro Parque and whale watching together?

Yes. We are building a Loro Parque and whale watching combo by boat and bus. Ask our team on WhatsApp for the latest options and dates.
