This is a calm sailing day, not a party boat and not a packed catamaran. The crew are experienced sailors, the boat is well kept, and you are welcome to help hoist the sails or take the helm if you want a taste of sailing. If you prefer to just sit back, that works too. Karolka Sailing Trip Questions (FAQ)

The questions people ask us most before booking a Karolka sailing trip. Still unsure? Chat with our local team on WhatsApp, mēs palīdzam ātri.

What kind of boat is the Karolka?

The New Karolka is a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49, a 15 metre sailing yacht built for comfort and easy sailing. It is a real sailing boat, so you get the quiet feel of being under sail, with modern equipment and space to move around the deck.

How many people go on the Karolka shared trip?

The shared trip has a maximum of 8 guests and a minimum of 6 for the trip to run. That is small by Gran Canaria boat trip standards, so the day feels more like sailing with friends than being on a packed tourist boat.

What days does the Karolka sail?

The Karolka runs Monday to Friday, year-round. There are no weekend departures on the shared trip. If you want to sail on a weekend, message us about the private charter.

How long is the Karolka sailing trip?

The shared trip lasts 4 hours on the water. Departure is 09:30 from Puerto de Mogán and you are back at the port around 13:30. Add hotel pickup and drop-off time either side.

Can I help sail the boat?

Yes. Guests are welcome to help hoist the sails and even take the helm, with the crew's guidance. If you have never sailed before, this is a good place to try it in an easy setting. If you just want to sit back and enjoy the day, that is also fine.

Do we sail or is the engine on all the time?

The captain sails when there is wind. On very calm days the engine is used more, but this is a real sailing yacht and the crew put the sails up when conditions allow.

Is the lunch really vegetarian?

Yes, the standard lunch on board is a vegetarian meal, served after the swim stop. Unlimited soft drinks, wine, beer and water are included through the trip, plus fresh fruit. For dietary needs or special requests, message us before booking so the crew can prepare.

Can we see dolphins or whales on the Karolka?

Dolphins and, less often, whales do pass along this coast, so sightings do happen. That said, this is a sailing trip, not a whale watching tour, so wildlife is a nice extra if it appears, not a promise. If seeing dolphins is your main goal, message us and we will suggest something better suited.

Is hotel pickup really free?

Yes, pickup and drop-off are free if you are staying between Bahía Feliz and Puerto de Mogán, so most southern hotels are covered. Pickup time is confirmed the day before, based on your hotel address.

Can kids join the Karolka sailing trip?

Yes, kids from age 6 are welcome, and families do book this trip. Infant seats can be provided if you ask when booking, so babies can join too, as long as a parent is with them. For very young children, message us before booking so we can help you decide if it is the right fit.

Is the Karolka wheelchair accessible?

No. The Karolka is a sailing yacht with steps between decks, so it is not accessible for guests in a wheelchair. If accessibility is a must for your group, message us and we will suggest a different boat.

Where does the Karolka leave from?

The Karolka leaves from Puerto de Mogán, on the south west coast of Gran Canaria. If you take the free hotel pickup, the driver will bring you to the port. If you drive yourself, be there 15 minutes before departure.

Club Canary Godīgais Viedoklis

Patiesa saruna no jūsu vietējās komandas Kanāriju salās

Let's be straight with you. The Karolka is not an adventure trip. There is no jumping off cliffs, no jet skis, no music blasting from the deck. If that is what you are after, this is not your boat.

What this is, is a slow, quiet, four hour sail on a proper yacht. Small group of up to 8 people, no crowds, no rush. You sit on deck, feel the wind, help hoist a sail if you want, drop into the water at a quiet bay, eat a vegetarian lunch, sail back. That is the whole day.

If you want a peaceful few hours on the water with a glass of wine in your hand and space to actually hear yourself think, the Karolka is one of the best options in Gran Canaria for that. If you want anything louder or faster, book something else and we will help you find it.

Honest recommendation, if calm is what you want, this one delivers.
