The Two Sites
Cueva de los Verdes, A Volcanic Lava Tube
Cueva de los Verdes is part of a huge tunnel formed thousands of years ago by lava from the La Corona volcano. The guided visit covers about 1 km on foot over roughly 50 minutes, through chambers of extraordinary shapes and colours. It saved local islanders from pirate raids centuries ago, and it hides a clever surprise near the end that we will not spoil. Good to know: the route has uneven ground, stairs, narrow spaces and low ceilings, so it needs a reasonable level of mobility.
Jameos del Agua, César Manrique's Masterpiece
Jameos del Agua is a striking example of art meeting nature, designed by the Lanzarote artist César Manrique inside another section of the same lava tube. Its centrepiece is a natural interior lake that is home to the endemic blind albino crab, Munidopsis polymorpha, a tiny species found nowhere else on Earth. Please help protect it: do not throw coins or objects into the lake, and note that swimming or entering the lake and pool is not permitted.

- Comfortable shoes with good grip for the volcanic stone and cave paths, and a light layer, the caves feel cooler than outside.
- There is no lunch stop. You may carry a small snack and water for the coach journey, but outside food and drink are not allowed inside Jameos del Agua, where a bar-cafeteria may be open subject to hours.
- Cueva de los Verdes is 轮椅不可通行 (steps, narrow paths, uneven ground, low ceilings) and is not recommended for claustrophobia or serious mobility difficulties.
- Keep your Club Canary ticket on your phone or printed. The guide speaks English, Spanish and German, choose your preferred language when booking.
