You walk over, sign in, get your briefing, and twenty minutes later you are driving a 1000cc buggy up towards the volcano. Three hours later you are back in town, in time for dinner or the football.
That is the whole point of this one. Tenerife has plenty of excursions. Very few of them let you do something genuinely memorable without organising transport first.
Buggy Tours From Playa de las Américas, Without A Car
A lot of people come to Playa de las Américas for the sun, the bars and the football, and never hire a car. That usually means the island beyond the resort stays a view from the beach.
This tour fixes that without any planning. You walk to Vivo Mini Golf in the centre of the resort, and three hours later you have driven a buggy through the volcanic landscape of Teide National Park or along the south coast. No car, no taxi, no transfer bus.
It also means the timing works around a normal holiday. The day tours leave at 13:30, so you keep your morning by the pool. The sunset tour leaves at 18:30 and you are back in the resort for a late dinner. Nothing about this trip costs you a whole day.
The Three Ultimate Buggy Tours
All three last three hours, all three use the same Moto CF 1000cc Sport buggies, and all three leave from Playa de las Américas. The only difference is where you go and when.
The Teide route, timed so you reach the high viewpoints as the sun goes down. Golden light over the volcano, the clouds sitting below you, and the island going quiet.
Why we recommend it: same price as the day tours, better light, cooler air, and far fewer cars on the mountain roads. It is also the one our guests write home about.
There is usually a drink at the sunset stop, included by the operator. Treat it as a nice extra rather than a reason to book, as it can change without notice and is not grounds for a refund.
Best for couples, anniversaries, and anyone who wants photos that do not look like everyone else's.
The classic route in full daylight. Up through Vilaflor and the pine forest, across the lava fields, to a viewpoint above the clouds near Teide National Park.
All on road, smooth driving, and the clearest views of the volcano. Good if you want scenery rather than dust.
The most adventurous of the three. Along the south coast past San Miguel, into the desert-like terrain near Granadilla for around an hour of real off-road driving, then on through El Médano.
Pick this one if the driving matters more than the view. You will get dusty.

Driving Licence, Read This Before You Book
Need bagid sõidavad edasi avalikud teed, so the police can ask the driver for a licence. That is why the operator checks every driver before departure, and why we explain it properly here instead of leaving you to find out at the desk.

- Bring the physical licence card. See on lihtne ja ohutu valik.
- Passengers do not need a licence. The four person buggy takes one driver and three passengers.
- A digital licence is accepted only if it can be checked live in your country's official app, such as miDGT in Spain, the DVLA check code in the UK, or MyJPJ in Malaysia, together with your passport.
- A photo or a screenshot of your licence is not accepted. Neither is a photo of the card on your phone.
- Licences from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Malaysia and similar countries are accepted when the card is printed in Latin letters.
- Bringing an International Driving Permit as well is the safe option and avoids any discussion at the desk.
- No problem at all. The buggies are automatic, so an automatic-only licence is fine.
- The operator will not let that person drive, and there is no refund. Passengers can still ride with another licensed driver in the group.
Small Groups, On Purpose
The operator never takes more than viis maastikuautot on a tour, even when the whole fleet is available. That is a deliberate choice, not a capacity problem.
Long convoys of buggies are hard on the small mountain villages these routes pass through, and the operator would rather keep groups small and stay welcome there. It also makes the tour better. Five buggies means the guide can actually keep an eye on everyone, you are not stuck in a queue at every viewpoint, and you are not eating the dust of twelve machines in front of you.

Under 12 hours, a no-show, or arriving too late: deposit lost plus the full remaining balance. For groups of 3 or more buggies, every window above is doubled.
The reason is capacity. Only five buggies go out per tour, so one booking is a large part of the day and we turn other guests away to hold it. A buggy left empty cannot be resold a few hours before.

Why It Is Strict
- Ainult viis maastikuautot go out on a tour. One booking is a large part of that, and we turn other guests away to hold it for you.
- A buggy reserved and left empty cannot be sold a few hours before, so the deposit alone never covers a late cancellation.
- The only exception is a genuine doctor or hospital letter dated before the tour or the same morning. A medical letter covers the person named on it, not the whole group.
- Changing your mind, sleeping in, or being unfit to drive are not exceptions. We know that sounds blunt. We would rather say it here than argue about it on the day.
Litsents
- A driver refused for an invalid or missing licence is treated as a no-show and is not refunded. Please read the licence section above before you book.
- If you are unsure, send Club Canary a photo of your licence beforehand and we will check it for you. It takes a minute.

- The tour runs in most conditions. If the guide decides it is unsafe, you reschedule free of charge or receive a full refund. You never lose money when the operator cancels.

This is the fix, and it takes no organising. You walk to Vivo Mini Golf in the middle of town, and three hours later you have driven a 1000cc buggy up to Teide or out along the coast. No hire car, no taxi, no 07:00 pickup.
Take the sunset tour if you can. Same price as the day tours, but the light up there as the sun drops is a completely different thing, the roads are quieter and the air is cooler. It is the one guests come back and tell us about. If the sunset slot is full, the Teide day tour is the next best, and the coastal tour is for you if the driving matters more than the view.
Two things to get right. The price is per buggy, so four people in one buggy is under 60€ each. And the driver needs a real physical licence, 21 or over, no photos on a phone. Read the licence section, or send us a picture of yours and we will check it.
Walk over, drive a buggy up a volcano, walk home for dinner. Hard to beat for a day with no car.
