Boat & Yacht Charter Canary Islands

The honest guide to renting a boat in the Canary Islands. What works brilliantly here, what barely exists, and how to get the best day on the water of your life.

Private boat trips are one of the backbones of Club Canary. We arrange them every single day across the islands, from two-person proposals to full company outings. So before you book anything, let us tell you how boats really work here. And don't just take our word for it, check our latest reviews on Trustindex.

01 / CHOOSE YOUR ISLAND Private Boat Hire On Every Major Island

These are the private trips: the whole boat exclusively for your group, with a professional local captain, and you are back on land in time for dinner and a real bed. Every island also has shared boat trips for whale and dolphin watching, which you will find on the island pages too. The difference with Club Canary? Years of building the best-established private boat partners on each island, so the boat that shows up is the boat you dreamed of.

02 / THE HONEST PART Why Bareboat Charters Barely Exist Here

Let's answer the question we get every week: can you rent a boat without a captain in the Canary Islands and sail off on your own, like in Greece or Croatia? In practice, no. And we would rather explain why than let you waste days searching.

The ocean is different here. Greece, Croatia and Turkey have calm, protected seas with short hops between islands. The Canary Islands sit in the open Atlantic. Wind and swell are part of daily life, distances between islands are serious, and conditions change fast. Day trips here are world class. Nights at anchor between islands are usually a lot less romantic than the brochure photo.

The economics are different too. Harbor spots in the tourist areas are expensive, so the boats based here are built to earn: daily trips, sometimes three or four per day in summer. Every boat already has a professional captain on the payroll, and owners want that captain on board for every charter so the boat comes back ready for tomorrow's trips. The result: skippered charters everywhere, bareboat almost nowhere.

And a small warning. Some international boat rental platforms will happily show you "boat rental Canary Islands" pages and take your request. Try filtering on boats without a captain and watch how little is actually left. We prefer to tell you the truth up front.

Our honest advice

Book a proper private boat with captain, choose a bigger boat with real space if comfort matters to you, explore the coast or hop to a nearby island for the day, then sleep in your hotel. You get the freedom, the privacy and the views, without fighting the Atlantic at 3 AM. If you still dream of sleeping on the water between islands, keep reading, because there is one way to do it right.

03 / WHY US The Team That Made Private Boat Trips Big Here

During and after COVID, something changed. Travelers suddenly wanted boats just for their own group, even small groups, and almost nobody on the islands offered that properly. Club Canary built the first real private boat trip selection in Tenerife, and it took off. Today plenty of websites copy the concept, which is fine, ideas spread. But the logistics, the fleet relationships and the daily experience took years to build, and that part does not copy so easily.

This is what we now arrange all the time: private trips for birthdays and proposals, wedding charters, company outings on the water, 50th celebrations with catering, bartenders, live music, jet skis alongside the boat. We know which boat fits which group, which captain fits which vibe, and which restaurant should be waiting when you step off. If a more luxurious day or multi-day plan on the water can be organised in the Canary Islands, we are the ones who organise it. Have a look at our Tenerife private boat collection to see the level.

04 / THE REAL MULTI-DAY OPTIONS Sleeping On Board, Done The Right Way

Multi-day charters across the islands do exist, but only as a luxury product with a full crew, and that is exactly how they should be done here. Two options we personally stand behind, both starting from Tenerife:

Luxury yacht charter cruising the Canary Islands with Club Canary

Luxury Yacht Charter Across The Canary Islands

The premier crewed super yacht for hire in the islands, exclusively through Club Canary. A dedicated crew and staff serve only you, the yacht can cruise to any island in the archipelago, and everything from gourmet meals to water toys is on board. Minimum two days, maximum memories. This is the one way that sleeping on the water here genuinely beats a hotel.

Availability is limited and these dates go early, so plan well in advance.

Private sailing yacht holiday charter in Tenerife with Club Canary

Private Sailing Charter To La Gomera, La Palma Or El Hierro

A private sailing yacht for up to 6 guests with a professional captain on board. Choose between three routes to the wilder western islands, add the all-inclusive food package, and let the captain handle the Atlantic while you enjoy it. Real sailing, done safely and comfortably.

Sailing charters are limited and require advance booking.

Want to start a multi-day charter from another island? Technically possible, but the boat has to travel from Tenerife first, which adds a serious cost. We will always tell you the real number before you decide.

05 / A LITTLE SPOILER Want To Sleep On The Water And See Every Island? Think Bigger.

Here is the plot twist: there is one type of boat that visits all the Canary Islands, sleeps like a hotel and handles the Atlantic without spilling your drink. A cruise ship. The islands are becoming one of Europe's favourite cruise destinations, with routes that connect all the Canaries and Madeira in one comfortable week.

The catch? The excursions sold on board are often overpriced and chosen for commission, not quality. So Club Canary is building something better: complete excursion packages for the exact cruise routes, with the best of each island, optimised for where the ships actually dock. Our team even sailed those routes ourselves to test everything. Launching for the 2027 season.

Cruise excursion packages are coming to the website soon. Until then, you can always ask us directly.

06 / QUICK ANSWERS Boat Charter Canary Islands: Honest Answers

Kas Kanaari saartel saab paati rentida ilma kaptenita?

Praktikas peaaegu kunagi. Peaaegu iga paat Kanaari saartel sisaldab professionaalset kaptenit. Atlandi ookean on siin karmim kui Vahemeri, reeglid on ranged ja enamus paatidest teevad igapäevaseid reise, kus kapten on juba meeskonnas. Kaptenita rendid, kus ise paati juhite, on saartel peaaegu kadunud.

Päevareisid siin on maailmaklassi. Ööbimine paadis saarte vahel on tavaliselt vähem mugav, kui brošüüripilt seda lubab.

Parim viis paadist Kanaari saartel nautimiseks on...

Erapaat ja kapten. Sinu seltskond saab paadi täielikult enda kasutusse, professionaalne kohalik kapten juhib paati merel ning pärast saad mugavalt oma hotellis magama. Sellise formaadi jaoks ongi saared loodud. Sirvi valikuid iga saare kaupa: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote ja Fuerteventura.

Can you do a multi-day yacht charter across the Canary Islands?

Yes, but it is a luxury product, not a budget one. Harbor fees, a dedicated crew and serious logistics are involved. Club Canary arranges a small number of multi-day crewed charters from Tenerife, including a luxury yacht that can cruise to any island ja private sailing yacht with routes to La Gomera, La Palma or El Hierro. Both require advance booking.

How much does it cost to rent a private boat in the Canary Islands?

It depends on the island, the boat size and the number of hours. Smaller private boats start at a few hundred euros for a trip, while luxury yachts and multi-day charters run into the thousands. The price on our website always matches the direct price, that is our Best Price Guarantee. Send us your group size, date and occasion and we recommend the boats that actually fit.

How far in advance should I book a boat in the Canary Islands?

For regular private boat trips, one to two weeks ahead is usually fine, although summer weekends and sunset slots fill up fast. For luxury yachts, weddings, company outings and multi-day charters, book several weeks to months in advance. The best boats have the fullest calendars, and that is not a coincidence.

Can Club Canary organise a wedding, company outing or big celebration on a boat?

Yes, this is our specialty. Catering, bartenders, entertainment, water sports alongside the boat and multi-boat setups for bigger groups. We know which boat fits which occasion and which captain fits which vibe. Tell us what you are celebrating and we build the day around it.

Not sure which boat fits your group?

Tell us your island, date, group size and occasion. We reply with the boats that actually make sense for you, based on real current availability. Write to us in your own language, our team speaks more than ten.
