FAQ
The questions people ask us most before booking a coasteering tour in Gran Canaria.
What is coasteering?
Coasteering is a mix of activities you do along a rocky coastline: cliff jumps into the sea, swimming, climbing, abseiling, and moving through sea caves. On this tour, you also get a zipline that ends in the water and a via ferrata section above the waves. It is one of the most complete adventure activities on Gran Canaria.
Is coasteering in Gran Canaria safe?
Yes, as long as you go with a licensed guide who knows the coast. Mojo Picón Aventura is a licensed local team who have run this route for years and know the tides and safe entry points. You are given a wetsuit, helmet, harness and life jacket, and every jump or abseil is optional, so you can skip anything that feels too much.
How long does coasteering last?
The activity itself lasts about 3 to 4 hours on the coast, from 09:30 to around 14:30. Add a short briefing at the start and time to change at the end, and you are looking at roughly half a day.
Do I need experience for coasteering?
No previous experience is needed. The route is rated a medium level, and the guide adapts the tour to the group. What you do need is basic swimming ability, reasonable fitness and no strong fear of heights. If you can hike for a couple of hours and you are comfortable in the sea, you will manage this tour.
Can beginners do coasteering?
Yes, this tour is beginner friendly if you meet the basic requirements: you know how to swim, you are in reasonable shape and heights do not stop you. The guide explains every step and every jump or abseil is optional, so beginners can skip the biggest sections and still do the full tour.
Is coasteering for kids and families?
Children aged 12 and over can join, as long as a parent or guardian is with them. Under 12s cannot take part, the route is too demanding. For families with mixed ages, message us and we will help you plan something that works for everyone.
What should I wear for coasteering?
Wear swimwear under normal clothes, and bring shoes that can get wet, like old trainers or water shoes. Flip flops are not enough on the rocks. A wetsuit, helmet, harness and life jacket are provided. Bring a towel and a spare pair of flip flops or shoes for after the tour.
Czy jest wliczony odbiór z hotelu?
Yes, hotel pickup is free if you are staying in the south of Gran Canaria, including Puerto Rico, Amadores, Mogán, Taurito, Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas and Meloneras. Pickup is around 09:00 and the exact time is confirmed the day before. If you are staying outside the south, you make your own way to the meeting point in Taurito.
Where is coasteering in Gran Canaria?
The tour meets at Parking de tierra de Taurito, on the south west coast of Gran Canaria. From there, the guide takes the group to the coasteering route along the cliffs and coves between Taurito and Mogán. The full meeting point and Google Maps link are sent in your booking confirmation.
When can you do coasteering in Gran Canaria?
The season runs from late April to the end of November, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. In winter, the sea is too rough on this stretch of coast for jumps and abseiling to be safe.

How Your Day On The Coast Looks
Hotel Pickup Or Meet In Taurito
If you are staying in the south, the Mojo Picón van picks you up from your hotel around 09:00. If you come by car, you meet the guide at Parking de tierra de Taurito at 09:30. Either way, the team hands out gear and gives a short safety briefing before you head out.

Zipline Through A Cave And Via Ferrata Over The Sea
The route builds up to the zipline, which runs through a cave and drops you into the sea, then a via ferrata section above the waves. There is also an abseil straight down into the water. All three are optional.

Who This Coasteering Tour Suits
