Coasteering Gran Canaria With Club Canary

This coasteering tour in Gran Canaria is a small-group adventure of 3 to 4 hours on the south coast, between Taurito and Mogán. The guide takes you along the cliffs and coves, with cliff jumps of different heights, a zipline through a sea cave, a via ferrata over the waves and abseiling straight into the sea. Every jump and every abseil is optional, so you can skip anything that feels too much on the day.

You need basic swimming ability, reasonable fitness and no strong fear of heights. The tour is a good fit for adventurous adults, teens from 12 with a parent, couples and groups of friends. It is not a good fit for guests with heart, back or mobility problems, or for guests who cannot swim.

How Your Day On The Coast Looks

Here is how the day flows, from pickup around 09:00 to the return around 14:30.

Hotel Pickup Or Meet In Taurito

If you are staying in the south, the Mojo Picón van picks you up from your hotel around 09:00. If you come by car, you meet the guide at Parking de tierra de Taurito at 09:30. Either way, the team hands out gear and gives a short safety briefing before you head out.

    Walk To The Coasteering Route

A short hike takes the group to the start of the route, along the cliffs between Taurito and Mogán. The guide explains the tides, the route and how each section works.

  • 3The Main Part

Cliff Jumps, Sea Caves And Swim Sections

The main part of the tour is a mix of cliff jumps of different heights, swim sections between rocks and time exploring sea caves you can only reach from the water. You can go as high or as low as you want on the jumps.

  • 4Big Moments

Zipline Through A Cave And Via Ferrata Over The Sea

The route builds up to the zipline, which runs through a cave and drops you into the sea, then a via ferrata section above the waves. There is also an abseil straight down into the water. All three are optional.

  • 5Around 14:30

    Picnic And Back To Taurito

The guide sets out the picnic, fruit, biscuits, nuts and water, then the group heads back to the meeting point. You are back around 14:30, with a link to your photo report waiting in your inbox soon after.

Good to know: the route shifts with the tides and sea conditions on the day, that is the nature of a real coasteering tour.

⚠️ Important Notes

🌊

Swimming And Heights: You need to be able to swim and be comfortable in open water, since several sections happen in the sea. The route also includes jumps and abseiling, so a strong fear of heights is not a good match.

📅

Season: The tour runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, from late April to the end of November. In winter, the sea is too rough on this stretch of coast for jumps and abseils to be safe.

🩺

Health: This tour is not a good fit for pregnant women, guests with heart or back problems, or guests with limited mobility. If you are unsure, message us before booking.

Coasteering Questions (FAQ)

The questions people ask us most before booking a coasteering tour in Gran Canaria. Still unsure? Chat with our local team on WhatsApp, we help fast.

What is coasteering?

Coasteering is a mix of activities you do along a rocky coastline: cliff jumps into the sea, swimming, climbing, abseiling, and moving through sea caves. On this tour, you also get a zipline that ends in the water and a via ferrata section above the waves. It is one of the most complete adventure activities on Gran Canaria.

Is coasteering in Gran Canaria safe?

Yes, as long as you go with a licensed guide who knows the coast. Mojo Picón Aventura is a licensed local team who have run this route for years and know the tides and safe entry points. You are given a wetsuit, helmet, harness and life jacket, and every jump or abseil is optional, so you can skip anything that feels too much.

How long does coasteering last?

The activity itself lasts about 3 to 4 hours on the coast, from 09:30 to around 14:30. Add a short briefing at the start and time to change at the end, and you are looking at roughly half a day.

Do I need experience for coasteering?

No previous experience is needed. The route is rated a medium level, and the guide adapts the tour to the group. What you do need is basic swimming ability, reasonable fitness and no strong fear of heights. If you can hike for a couple of hours and you are comfortable in the sea, you will manage this tour.

Can beginners do coasteering?

Yes, this tour is beginner friendly if you meet the basic requirements: you know how to swim, you are in reasonable shape and heights do not stop you. The guide explains every step and every jump or abseil is optional, so beginners can skip the biggest sections and still do the full tour.

Is coasteering for kids and families?

Children aged 12 and over can join, as long as a parent or guardian is with them. Under 12s cannot take part, the route is too demanding. For families with mixed ages, message us and we will help you plan something that works for everyone.

What should I wear for coasteering?

Wear swimwear under normal clothes, and bring shoes that can get wet, like old trainers or water shoes. Flip flops are not enough on the rocks. A wetsuit, helmet, harness and life jacket are provided. Bring a towel and a spare pair of flip flops or shoes for after the tour.

Is hotel pickup included?

Yes, hotel pickup is free if you are staying in the south of Gran Canaria, including Puerto Rico, Amadores, Mogán, Taurito, Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas and Meloneras. When can you do coasteering in Gran Canaria?
