Club Canary is a local, curated platform for the Canary Islands. We are based in the south of Tenerife and work across six islands with around 200 vetted local operators. Everything below is answered by the real team, the same people you reach on WhatsApp, by email, or at our office.

Which Canary Islands does Club Canary cover?

We cover six of the Canary Islands. Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, and La Gomera.

We are based in Tenerife and work across all six. Each island has its own vetted local operators. From boat trips and volcano hikes to stargazing and private charters, if it is worth doing on these islands, we can usually arrange it.

Can Club Canary plan more than one activity for my trip?

Yes, and this is one of the best reasons to book with us.

What payment methods does Club Canary accept?

Payments are handled safely through Stripe, and PayPal is also available.

You can pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Bancontact, and Wero (the new name for iDEAL). Spanish Bizum and Revolut Pay are rolling out too.

For many experiences you can also reserve now and pay the rest on the day. If we ever send you to a custom payment page, it is only for an amount already agreed with our team.

Can I cancel or change my booking?

Often yes, but it depends on the activity, and we are honest about that upfront.

Each experience has its own rules, shown under the policy tab. Many offer free cancellation within a set time. Some, like boat parties, are stricter. A few deposits cannot be refunded.

Why book with Club Canary instead of GetYourGuide, Viator, or Airbnb Experiences?

Big platforms list almost anyone who signs up. We do not.

Their model runs on affiliates and ads. Many blogs and writers promote them for commission, not because they know the operator, so a lot of the glowing links you see are paid placements, not real local advice. The platform earns either way.

We work the opposite way. We only operate in the Canary Islands, we know our operators in person, and we have tested most of the trips ourselves. We are usually cheaper too, and we back it with our best price guarantee.

Why book with Club Canary instead of my hotel reception?

Hotel desks are friendly, but most just pass your booking to whoever pays them commission. They often act like part of the hotel, which lets them charge higher prices, but it is usually an outside agency renting the desk.

Here is the catch. That desk often does not say which company is really behind it, and it is hard to find clear info or real reviews about them. We have heard of guests in luxury hotels left calling a number because the agent was not even there. And if something goes wrong, you are stuck facing the same desk every day of your trip.

It is not 2002 anymore. You can book online in minutes, check the real policies and conditions, and read honest reviews from other guests first. Do not trust a desk just because it sits in your lobby. Too often that closeness is used to charge you more.

You deserve better. We are the local activity experts, we have tested the trips, and we are reachable every day from 08:00 to 22:00 if you need us. Clear info, fair prices, real people, before and after you book.

Why book with Club Canary instead of a street agency or excursion shop?

This is exactly the problem we were built to fix. Not all street sellers are bad, plenty are lovely, but the setup pushes a lot of them into tricks.

Most work alone on commission, ticket by ticket. So if your seller has a day off, the next person often will not help, because they did not earn from your booking. And when a slow day hits, some will say whatever it takes to close a sale, even things that are not true.

Watch the flyers too. The high price on them is often there on purpose, as a haggle anchor. A flyer might show a jet ski at 210€, then you get “offered” 150€ and feel like you won, when 150€ is simply the normal price you would find online anyway, sometimes cheaper. The big number is just there to make the discount feel real.

There are practical risks as well. Many take cash only, which often means the booking is barely registered, if at all. Many still use paper tickets, so if you lose it, you are stuck. And good luck fitting the real terms, the cancellation policy, and what to bring onto a little paper slip.

We do it the clear way. A registered company, a real office, public reviews, all-in prices you can check online, proper digital tickets, and honest packages when you book more than one thing. No games, and we are here from 08:00 to 22:00 if anything comes up.

Why book with Club Canary instead of a big travel agent like TUI?

A big agent sells the islands from a brochure, and the name alone makes people feel safe. But that trust is not always earned.

Here is how the model usually works. They get you in an info meeting on your first day, friendly on the surface, but really there to sell you the activities. Because of their volume they can reserve a private bus or boat and call it an exclusive experience, which makes it hard to compare the price, and it is often close to double. The catch is the same boat frequently runs as a normal shared tour anyway, just with other guests instead of only their clients.

They also tend to add higher prices, push the big-volume trips, and lock in suppliers on strict, high-commission contracts. The smaller, higher-quality local experiences usually get skipped, because they do not fit mass tourism. And with many of them there is no public place to leave a review, so you cannot check what other guests really thought.

Some people genuinely like that all-in-one, hand-held style, and that is fair. But if you would rather get more for your money, we run small-group experiences of much higher quality, or full private tours and private boat trips if you want the real exclusive thing. Does Club Canary handle company outings, team building, and film production logistics?

Does Club Canary organize Carnival, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve events?

Yes, and these are some of the most special dates in the islands. They are also where we go all in. We are known for giving 100% on local events, and Forbes even featured us for our Carnival transfers.
We arrange experiences around Carnival, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Three Kings, and other local celebrations, including things visitors do not easily find on their own.
These dates book up fast and often need planning ahead, so it is worth contacting us early. For New Year’s Eve, our team can guide you to the best options before they sell out.

Which activities have the highest chance of problems?

Most activities run smoothly and we get very few complaints. But we would rather be honest than pretend everything is perfect.

Boat parties are popular, but the organizers can be strict and a bit disorganized, with the odd forgotten booking or missed pickup. Quad rentals can be tricky too, since a few people ignore the rules or arrive in no state to ride.

For these, we add clear warnings, stay honest, and often suggest nicer options. Most guests still have a great time. The risk is just a little higher.

What happens if bad weather affects my activity day?

A cloudy day does not always cancel a trip, and it can be the perfect excuse to save the beach for the sunshine.

If the weather makes an activity unsafe or impossible, like a strong Calima, the operator who runs it makes the final call.

When that happens, we help you find another date or a different solution at no extra cost. We cannot control the weather, but we will always sort it out fairly with you.

Who owns Club Canary and where is the team based?

Club Canary is owned by its founder, Roy Schijvens, who started the company on 16 August 2019. It is based in Costa Adeje, Tenerife.

Roy moved from the Netherlands and built Club Canary to make Canary Islands trips safer, clearer, and better organized. It is run under Schijvens Group SL, alongside his other companies and projects in the islands. Everything is fully registered, with real customer care and a real local team.

You are welcome to visit our office by appointment. We are a real local company you can come and meet, not a faceless website.

What is The Canary Club?

The Canary Club is our private, invitation-only concierge service. It is the most exclusive side of Club Canary.

It is built for small luxury groups who want the islands handled at the highest level, with direct access to people and places we do not share publicly. Members get senior personal handling and a few doors most visitors never see.

What languages does the Club Canary team speak?

Plenty. Every member of our team speaks fluent English, and many speak Spanish and Italian too.

We almost always have someone available in Dutch, German, and French. Depending on the day and who is on shift, we often cover more, like Russian, Polish, Romanian, and others.

How do I get my confirmation, and how fast?

Right after you book, you get an email confirming we received your order.

Our team then checks the details with the operator. Once it is set, we send your final confirmation and any tickets by email or WhatsApp, as quickly as we can.

Booking last minute? Message us and we will hurry it along. If you do not see anything, check your spam folder, then just ask us.

Is it safe to pay on the Club Canary website?

Yes. Payments are handled by trusted providers like Stripe and PayPal, and we never see or store your full card details.

We are a registered company based in the south of Tenerife in a prime location, with public reviews and clear all-in pricing. You can read the details in our refund policy and terms and conditions.

Am I speaking with real people or a chatbot?

Mostly real people. On WhatsApp, phone, and email you reach our local team during working hours.

In 2026 we also added Sunny, our digital assistant on the live chat. Sunny answers simple questions fast and is always clearly shown as digital. Outside working hours, Sunny may reply first.

You can ask for a real person at any time and our team takes over. Technology for speed, real people for everything that matters.

Why does Club Canary prefer messages over phone calls for bookings?

We can talk on the phone, but for anything to do with your booking we prefer it in writing, and that is to protect you.

Everything we arrange runs through our system, linked to your order. When it is written down, you have a clear record of the price, the time, and exactly what was agreed. Nothing gets lost, and there is no “but on the phone you said” confusion later. For that reason our team confirms prices and arrangements in writing, not verbally over a call.

Messages also save you time. A quick call like “where is my driver” means we first have to find who you are and your order number. Send your name and order number by WhatsApp or email and we can answer in seconds. And because we cover several islands and hundreds of activities, “I want a jet ski” is much clearer in a message where we can send you the exact options and prices.
