Gran Canaria Self-Drive Stargazing Tour
Have a rental car and feel comfortable driving in the mountains after dark? Drive yourself to a mountain viewpoint, watch the sunset above the clouds and join a guided telescope session under Gran Canaria's night sky with astronomy experts. This is the lower-priced, more flexible alternative to the hotel-pickup tour: you meet the guide at the meeting point, and you leave in your own car once the session finishes.
Reserve online with a small deposit and pay the balance in cash to the guide on the day, with fast confirmation and a local Club Canary team on WhatsApp from 08:00 to 22:00. Club Canary is an official ticket seller, the tour is run by a licensed local operator.
45€ per adult (children 5-12 25€). You pay 15€ per adult online and the remaining 30€ in cash to the guide on the day. A suitable car is required, this option does not include hotel pickup.

Drive Yourself to the Stars
This trip mixes freedom with a proper guided astronomy session. You drive up into the mountains in your own car, meet the guide before sunset, enjoy the sunset viewpoint with a glass of cava or juice, then move to a dark-sky location for the telescope session. Your guide runs a laser constellation tour and explains what is visible on the night. When it is over, you simply drive away in your own car, no waiting for a transfer. It is a small-group session shared with a limited number of other self-drive guests.

Move to the observation point. The final spot can depend on weather and visibility.

Look through professional telescopes while the guide explains the constellations and visible objects.

Receive a downloadable photo from the evening.

Once the session finishes, head off in your own car whenever you are ready.

Depending on the season, moonlight, clouds and atmospheric conditions, the guide may show planets, star clusters, galaxies, nebulae or the Milky Way. Specific objects and visibility are never guaranteed.

Car, Meeting Point, Children & Weather
- You must drive to and from the mountain location yourself. Please do not book this option without a suitable car. The return is after dark on mountain roads, so only book if you are comfortable driving in these conditions. If not, choose the pickup tour instead.
- You meet at a mountain viewpoint, with exact directions sent after booking. Arrive about 30 minutes before sunset. Sunset times change through the year, so there is no fixed clock time.
- Children can join from age 5 at the child rate (ages 5 to 12). Please add each child's age when booking.
- The mountains are much cooler than the coast after sunset. Bring warm layers, long trousers and closed shoes. A limited number of coats may be available to borrow, but this is not guaranteed.
- One cava or juice is included. You may bring your own snacks and extra drinks.
- The guide monitors weather and sky conditions, and the observation point or programme may change for safety or visibility.

Payment
- You reserve with a deposit online that counts toward the total, and pay the remaining balance in cash to the guide on the day.
Getting There
- You are responsible for reaching the meeting point on time in your own car. Traffic, navigation errors and vehicle issues are the guest's responsibility. Late arrival does not extend the activity, and there is no refund for a missed or partially missed session caused by lateness.
Weather & Safety
- If the guide cancels because of unsafe weather or unusable sky conditions, you receive a new date or a refund. Please follow the guide's safety instructions at all times.
Changes
- To change or cancel, contact Club Canary as early as possible at office@clubcanary.com. The exact cancellation window is confirmed with your booking.

If you already have a rental car and you do not mind driving mountain roads in the dark, this is a great-value way to do a proper stargazing night. You get the same sunset, telescopes and expert guide as the pickup tour, for less money, plus the freedom to come and go in your own time.
Be honest with yourself about the drive, though. The way back is after dark on winding roads. If that does not sound relaxing, the pickup version is worth the extra, and the sky is never guaranteed either way, so dress warm and enjoy whatever the night gives you.
