Oby Freebird Catamaran Fuerteventura, A 16m Sailing Catamaran
Specifics rather than adjectives. The Oby Freebird is a 16-metre sailing catamaran s deck carrying two nets, places to sunbathe and shaded spots to sit out of the sun. Two toilets on board, one for men and one for women. It carries up to 56 guests, so this is a proper group sailing trip rather than an intimate charter, and it is priced accordingly.
Shoes come off on boarding and are stored safely until the end. Smoking is only at the back of the boat. Under 18s are welcome as long as an adult comes along, which is the main difference from the adults-only Oby Luxury.
Boat Trip From Fuerteventura To Isla de Lobos, With An Hour Ashore
This is the whole point of the Freebird, so we will be plain about it. Plenty of boats leaving Corralejo sail toward Lobos, circle the waters, and head home. Lovely views, but you never touch the island.
On this trip the catamaran disembarks on Isla de Lobos for approximately one hour. You walk on the island, see it properly, and get back aboard for lunch. If setting foot on Lobos is what you actually want from your day, this is the boat that does it, and we would rather tell you that clearly than let you book a sail-past and feel short-changed.
How long ashore? Around one hour. It is a genuine visit rather than a photo stop, but it is not a full day on the island either.
What to bring ashore. Shoes you can walk in, water and sunscreen. There is no shade to speak of on Lobos.
The rest of the four hours. Sailing, a swim and snorkel stop, paddleboarding, and lunch on deck.
Corralejo To Lobos Island, How The Crossing Works
Lobos sits just off the north tip of Fuerteventura, a short hop across the strait from Corralejo, which is why this works as a four-hour trip rather than a full day. You leave from the Muelle deportivo, cross under sail when conditions allow, and the island is in view most of the way.
The water in the strait is famously clear, and it is where the swim and snorkel stop happens. Bring a mask if you have your own, though gear is provided.

Cancellation And Changes
- More than 48 hours before the trip: full refund.
- Between 24 and 48 hours before: 25% of your payment is refunded.
- Less than 24 hours before, or a no-show: no refund.
Groups Of 6 Or More
- For groups of 6 or more people, the cancellation timings double.
- That gives group organisers a much longer window to make changes, which is worth knowing when you are coordinating other people.
Weather And Sailing Conditions
- When the weather is uncertain, the captain makes the call.
- If the captain cancels because of bad weather, you can choose a new date or take a full refund.

Real talk: the reason we point people at the Freebird is simple. It is the boat from Corralejo that actually puts you on Isla de Lobos, for about an hour, rather than sailing past it and turning around. If walking on Lobos is on your list, stop comparing and book this one.
Be clear-eyed about what else it is, though. Up to 56 guests on a 16-metre catamaran is a group trip, not an intimate one. If you want space, quiet and a smaller boat, the Oby Luxury at around 21 guests is the better afternoon, and it is adults only which some people specifically want. It just does not land on the island.
One practical thing: there is almost no shade on Lobos. Take shoes you can walk in, water and sunscreen, and that hour ashore is a genuine highlight rather than a hot slog.
