Where We Meet, And Why It Changed
The meeting point is now the Moeve Chio service station at P.º de la Libertad 49, in the village of Chío, on the western route up into Teide National Park.
A petrol station might sound unglamorous, and it is, but it is far easier to find in the dark than a picnic area, it is lit, there is space to park and there is somewhere to use the toilet before a three-hour night out. Mobile signal inside the park is patchy, so meeting somewhere nobody can miss matters more than meeting somewhere pretty. From there you follow the guide, and the pretty part comes later.

Got A Car In Tenerife? This Is Your Stargazing Night
Check in at Chío, have some Canarian tapas and a drink, meet the guide and the rest of the group, then follow the van about 20 minutes to the spot. You get a laser-guided sky presentation and Celestron Evolution 8 telescopes, and roughly three hours after meeting you are back at your own car, free to drive home or carry on with your evening.
Nights at altitude are cold even in summer, so bring layers. Spare jackets can sometimes be lent, but do not count on it. The night depends on the sky: if the guide calls it off you hear at least two hours before and you reschedule or get your money back.

Two Self-Drive Nights, Which One Is Yours?
Corremos two self-drive stargazing trips, and they are not the same. Rather than let you guess, here is the difference in plain terms.
This One, Teide Stargazing No Pick-Up
55€ per person

🍴 Being honest about the food. The picnic is a nice extra, not a dinner. Tapas, a drink, something in your hand while the sun goes down and the group stops being strangers. It is genuinely good for the atmosphere. It will not replace a meal.
So if that sounds worth 15€ to you, book this one. If you would rather eat properly beforehand and just go for the stars, take the Excursión de atardecer y observación de estrellas and keep the difference. Both are good nights, and we are not going to pretend otherwise to sell you the dearer one.

Why Self-Drive Makes Sense If You Already Have A Car
If you have already paid for a hire car, paying again for a seat on a bus is money for nothing. This is the same guide, the same telescopes and the same tapas as our main Teide night, without the pick-up routes and without the price that carries them. It is not a private tour and not a mass excursion. It sits in between, which is exactly where most people with a car want to be.

It is a nice extra and the eating together is what turns a group of strangers into a group, but do not skip your evening meal for it. Any alcohol served is light and entirely optional, since you drive your own car afterwards.

Yes. This self-drive night is 55€ per person and costs less than the version with hotel pickup, because the transport is removed and nothing else changes: same guide, same Celestron telescopes, same tapas. If you already have a rental car it is the better value. Club Canary also runs an even cheaper self-drive option, the Excursión de atardecer y observación de estrellas en 40€, which has no picnic and a slightly larger group. And if you have no car at all, the tour guiado de observación de estrellas en el Teide with hotel pickup is the right choice instead.
¿Qué pasa si el clima está nublado?
El guía supervisa las condiciones antes de cada tour. Si la noche no es segura o no vale la pena, se te avisa al menos 2 horas antes del inicio y puedes elegir entre un cambio de fecha gratuito o un reembolso completo. Si no hay mensaje, el tour se realiza.

How much does the self-drive stargazing tour cost, and how do I pay?
55€ per person, and children pay the same as adults. You reserve your place with Club Canary by paying a Depósito 25€ online, then pay the remaining 30€ per person in cash directly to the guide at check-in in Chío. Bring the cash with you, there is no card machine on a mountain. The deposit counts towards the total, it is not an extra charge. Places are limited to 16 people, so booking ahead is sensible, especially in the busier months.
Booking last minute or a date looks full? Check with us first, we can often still fit you in. The Excursión de atardecer y observación de estrellas usually has more availability, including Sundays.
Política De Reservas
Deposit y pago
Confirme su plaza con un depósito de 25€ per person, which counts towards the total. The remaining 30€ per person is paid in cash to the guide at check-in in Chío. The deposit holds your reservation but does not cover a late cancellation or a no-show. Check your confirmation email after booking and tell us immediately if anything is wrong.
Cancelación
Individuals and groups under 5: free cancellation up to 48 hours before.
Groups of 5 or more: free up to 4 days before.
Groups of 10 or more: free up to 7 days before.
After the free window the deposit is lost and further costs may apply. No refund for a no-show or a same-day cancellation.
Gastos de anulación tardía
Individuals and groups under 5: cancelling 11 to 47 hours before means losing 50% of the deposit plus 50% of the balance. Under 11 hours means the full deposit plus the full balance.
Groups of 5 or more: between 24 hours and 3 days before, the 50% rule. Under 24 hours, the full amount.
Groups of 10 or more: between 48 hours and 6 days before, the 50% rule. Under 48 hours, the full amount.
Tiempo
The night depends on the sky. If the guide decides it is not safe or not worth it, you reschedule or get a full refund. We aim to tell you at least 2 horas before the start time. No message means the tour runs. The exact spot inside the park may change with cloud or wind, and self-drive guests follow the guide's van for about 20 to 30 minutes.
Late Arrivals
Arrive on time at the Moeve Chio station. Once the group leaves, reception inside the park is limited. If you are late we will try to help, and in the worst case you can drive on at your own cost to catch up. If joining is not possible, the late cancellation fees apply. Keep the phone number you gave us reachable, the guide usually uses WhatsApp.
Responsabilidad y conducta
Esta opción de autocaravana se une a nuestro small-group stargazing night, and Club Canary works with licensed local partners. Follow the safety instructions and drive carefully in convoy. Disrespectful behaviour can mean exclusion without a refund. Raise anything on the night directly with the guide, that is the fastest route to a fix.
Fotos
The guide often shares photos within 3 to 4 days. It is a free extra rather than a paid service and cannot be guaranteed. The guide messages you directly, so there is no need to contact the office about it.
Looking After Teide
No litter, keep to marked areas, and keep light and noise down. Bins are available in the park. Bring your own warm layers where you can, spares are limited.
