The Mount Teide Stargazing Tour, Eight Seats Under The Milky Way

This is the Mount Teide stargazing tour Tenerife regulars recommend, not the 50-person bus your hotel sells. A small group of 8 leaves the south coast around 18:15, watches the sunset above the clouds, eats Canarian tapas with champagne at Chío, and ends the night at a real telescope at 2,200 meters in Teide National Park. All in English, from start to finish.

Got a minute? The full Mount Teide stargazing story below is written by us, not copied, including the honest comparison with the big coach tours we also sell. Scroll on, we hold nothing back.

The Club Canary Mount Teide stargazing tour is a small-group night trip from South Tenerife: hotel pick-up around 18:15, a sunset tapas picnic at the Chío recreational area, and a guided Celestron Evolution 8 telescope session at about 2,200 meters in Teide National Park. Maximum 8 guests in the van, up to 16 when self-drive guests join, English only, back at the hotel around 22:45.

Why Only 8? This Small Group Beats The Big Buses

Most stargazing Mount Teide trips sold in hotels put 50 or more people on one coach. That means endless pick-ups, several languages in one group, and food stops where the quality often disappoints. This tour flips it: 8 guests, one language, a few pick-up stops and a guide with real astronomy knowledge. Sometimes up to 8 self-drive guests join at the picnic spot, so the absolute maximum under the stars is 16. Watch the tour video to feel it.

The Telescope Session, With Ben

After sunset the group drives deeper into the park for the main event. Ben, the expert guide, sets up the Celestron Evolution 8 and walks you through planets, galaxies and the Milky Way, with the storytelling his reviews keep praising. He usually snaps night photos of the group and sends them within a few days, a free extra from the guide that cannot be guaranteed.

Why Teide Is One Of The Best Stargazing Spots In Europe

The picnic and telescope spots sit at about 2,200 meters, above most of the cloud layer and away from the coastal lights. Teide National Park holds an official Starlight certification for its protected night sky, and on clear nights the Milky Way shows up before the telescope even comes out. Teide is also famous as one of the best places on Tenerife pour regarder le coucher de soleil, which is exactly how this Mount Teide night tour starts.

Honest Expectations

Plan around 5 to 6 hours door to door, back at the hotel around 22:45. Nights at 2,200 meters get cold, even in summer, and warm jackets, gloves and hats are usually available from the guide at no extra cost. The telescope is weather dependent: if the sky closes, you reschedule or get your money back.

How This Compares To Our Bigger Stargazing Tours

This small-group experience stands apart from bigger trips such as Teide by Night et Excursion Tenerife Stars. Those large-group tours are not bad at all: they can be a great choice if you enjoy a more social evening, and Club Canary offers them too. The difference here is simple: 8 people in the van means shorter pick-ups, one language and a calmer night. Every observation des étoiles à Tenerife option we offer works the Club Canary way, and this small-group version is only bookable with us.

Best For And Skip This If

Best for couples, photography lovers, families with older kids and anyone who wants the night sky without the coach-tour feeling. Skip this one if walking on uneven terrain is a problem, or if cold evenings are not for you: it can drop to around 5 degrees at altitude. Short on time? A shorter activity fits better.

The Reviews Do The Selling Here

Guests on this exact tour post their own photos in the review section of this page: the Milky Way through the telescope, the sunset picnic, the whole night. Only 8 seats run per night, which is exactly why the review count stays small and the ratings stay high. Before you book any Teide stargazing tour, read a few, then decide.
