Description

Atlantic Star Tenerife, Small Group Whale Watching With A Guarantee

If seeing whales or dolphins is the main reason you came to Tenerife, this is the trip we would send our own friends and family on. The Atlantic Star is a Cyclades 50.5 sailing yacht that takes a maximum of 10 guests per trip. That means space, calm, and real personal service, not a crowded catamaran packed with 100+ tourists.

Booked through Club Canary, it is also the one whale watching tour in Tenerife where you can add an optional money back guarantee on your sighting. More on how that works just below.

Where You Meet. Puerto Colón, Porte 0 in Costa Adeje, a short walk or quick taxi from Costa Adeje and Playa de las Américas.

Easy, Safe Booking. Reserve with a small deposit today, pay the rest on board. Groups of 3 adults or more get a discount.

Is There A Whale Watching Tour In Tenerife With A Money Back Guarantee?

Yes, and this is the one. Most boats will not offer a guarantee, because they cannot promise it. The Atlantic Star can. For just 15€ par personne, you are fully covered.

You See Whales Or Dolphins. Guaranteed at least one of the two, often both.

If You See Neither. You get your money back on the trip, or join another trip for free.

Fair For Everyone. The 15€ is a non-refundable insurance fee. In reality, sightings happen on almost every trip, the pilot whales here live in these waters all year.

So if whales are your priority, you are not gambling your holiday money. That peace of mind is exactly why so many guests pick this boat over a cheaper trip with no promise.

What A Small Group Whale And Dolphin Watching Trip Looks Like

Here is how your 3 hours on the water actually unfold, step by step, with real photos from real trips.

1. Settle In And Head Out

After a quick briefing at the gate, your guide walks you to the boat. Then it is easy: grab a comfy cushion, take a drink, relax, and the captain sets off to find the whales. No rush, no stress.

🧐 “Briefing done, drink in hand, feeling good…” Okay, so where exactly are these whales hiding? Any minute now, right?

2. There They Are

And then it happens. The captain knows where to look, and you spot them. That first moment of a fin breaking the surface never gets old.

🐋 “There! Look, look… we found them!” See, told you the captain knew exactly where to go.

3. This Is How It Really Looks

This is a real guest photo, not a polished studio shot, so you can see honestly how close the pilot whales come. Want more proof? Scroll to the reviews, dozens of real guests have added their own whale and dolphin photos from this exact trip.

A real sighting from the deck. Not zoomed, not staged.

4. Meet The Pilot Whales

The whales you will most likely see are pilot whales, residents of these waters all year round. You will not see them underwater like this on the trip, we added this photo so you know what they look like up close. They usually travel in family groups, mothers with their young, and sometimes 20 or more together.

Bon à savoir : resident pilot whales live off Tenerife’s south coast year round, which is why sightings are so reliable here.

5. The Dolphin Bonus

If you are lucky, you also meet bottlenose dolphins. They tend to be more playful and curious than the whales, often racing along right beside the boat. Whales are the main event here, but a dolphin escort is a lovely bonus.

Bon à savoir : dolphins are curious and fast, so when they show up they often surf the bow wave right next to you.

6. Swim Break In A Calm Bay

After the wildlife, the boat anchors at El Puertito, a sheltered bay, for a swim. Jump straight off the boat, float in the calm water, and just enjoy it.

Honest note on snorkeling. This stop is about cooling off and relaxing, not world-class snorkeling. There is gear on board if you want it, but do not expect a coral reef. Come for the swim and the calm.

Worried about seasickness? Most people are fine. The boat stays close to the coast (you always see land), it is only 3 hours, and a sailing yacht moves gently. If you are sensitive, sit at the back in the shade. Feeling off? Hold on until the swim break, jump in, and you will usually feel much better.

7. Food And Drinks On Board

While you relax, the hostess serves fresh sandwiches with several fillings, plus snacks. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available on request, just let us know. Drinks are unlimited too: water, soft drinks, wine, beer, sangria and cava. It is not a fancy buffet, but it is fresh, good, and there is plenty.

One Honest Thing About Boat Trips In Tenerife

Almost all licensed boat trips here, whether 3, 6 or 9 hours, follow a similar routine: watch whales and dolphins, then anchor in a calm bay for a swim and some food. Boats do not sail to other islands or drop you on hidden beaches, it is mostly not legal and there are no real spots that make it worthwhile. So the trip is about the marine life, the open sea, and relaxing along Tenerife’s south coast. On this boat, you just get to do it in a small group instead of a crowd.

Best Whale Watching In Tenerife For Families And Couples

For Couples. The 12:30 and 15:30 trips are the most relaxed, usually mostly adults on board. Soft cushions, unlimited drinks, and the ocean to yourselves. It has even been used for proposals, though for that moment we would point you to a excursion privée au coucher du soleil.

For Families. Families are welcome on all trips, but 09:30 is usually best. The boat is safe, stable and child-friendly with life jackets on board. Most kids love it, the crew chats and plays with them, and because the boat does not lean over hard the ride stays smooth. Children are ages 1 to 9, babies under 1 join free (note it when booking, bring ID). Everyone counts toward the 10-guest limit. We keep children off our website photos on purpose, but you will find plenty of real family reviews below.

For A Calm Day, Not A Party. This is a relaxed, intimate trip, not a party boat. Want a louder, party-style day out? We have other boats for that, just ask. If you would rather enjoy the whales in peace with a small, friendly group, this is the one.

Responsible Whale Watching In Tenerife

The Atlantic Star is a quiet sailing boat, so it can often get closer to the whales than big motor boats without disturbing them. This trip is for people who love nature and want to do it the right way. Swimming with whales or dolphins is not allowed in Tenerife, here is our guide on nager avec les dauphins à Tenerife.

💬 L’Avis Honnête De Club Canary

If seeing whales or dolphins is the main thing you care about, this is the boat we recommend first. It is small, calm and personal, and the optional money back guarantee means you are not gambling your holiday on it.

It is not a party boat, and the snorkel stop is just a nice swim, not a reef. But for relaxed, real, small-group whale watching, nothing we offer beats it.

Spots are limited to 10, so book early to get your day.
