Horse Riding Tenerife, From A Real Equestrian Centre
This is not a quick pony loop. The ride sets out from an established equestrian centre in the south of Tenerife, a proper stable with an arena, well-cared-for horses and a restaurant on site. From there, a guide leads you out into the open volcanic countryside, past cactus, tabaiba and lava fields, towards the coast. It is a genuine, scenic way to see a part of the island most visitors never reach.
The horses are calm and matched to each rider, so it works for complete beginners and for people who have ridden before. First time on a horse? You get a gentle, reliable horse and simple guidance before you set off, and the horses follow the guide. Ridden before and want a bit more? Tell us your level, and where the terrain is safe there may be room for some trot.

⚠ Before You Book, A Few Honest Notes
- The guides: they are local and friendly and speak mainly Spanish, with some English. The instructions are simple and the horses follow the guide, so almost everyone manages easily, but if you would like more explanation, tell us when you book and we will pass it on.
- The pace: because of the rocky terrain, most of the ride is a relaxed walk. Confident riders may get a little trot where it is safe, so tell us your level.
- Into the sea: on the 2-hour ride you can enter the shallow water only if the sea and safety allow on the day. It is a lovely bonus, but it cannot be promised.
- The coast: this is a rugged black-lava and pebble shore, not a white-sand beach. That is the real, wild Tenerife, and it is beautiful.

- The Route to the Sea (2 hours) departs daily at 10:00 and 14:00. The Volcanic Trail (1 hour) departs daily at 12:30. The centre is in Arona, Tenerife sud, near Montaña Amarilla, with free parking and a restaurant. The exact address is on your Club Canary e-ticket. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early.
- Drive yourself, or add a round-trip pickup for 10€ per family, available across south Tenerife from Callao Salvaje to El Médano, paid on the day. It is a small local centre, so in busy periods there can be a short wait as groups rotate.
- The guides speak mainly Spanish, with some English. Instructions are simple and the horses follow the guide, so language is rarely a problem. The horses are matched to your level, so beginners are very welcome, and confident riders can tell us their experience.
- Minimum age is 6, and the weight limit is 95 kg for the horses. Riding is not recommended for pregnant guests. Great for couples, families and solo riders.
- Comfortable clothes, closed shoes (no shorts, swimwear or bare feet), sunscreen and water. Lockers are available for your belongings (3€ deposit, refunded).
- Your guide usually takes photos during the ride and sends them afterwards. A small deposit online, the balance at the centre in cash or card.

Anche i principianti assoluti possono farlo? 🐎
Assolutamente. Non è richiesta alcuna esperienza. I cavalli sono calmi e abbinati a ogni cavaliere, ricevi una semplice guida prima di partire e i cavalli seguono la guida. È molto adatto ai principianti ed è ottimo per le famiglie.
Che lingua parlano le guide? 🗣️
Le guide sono locali e parlano principalmente spagnolo, con un po' di inglese. Le istruzioni sono semplici e i cavalli seguono il capofila, quindi quasi tutti se la cavano facilmente. Se desiderate maggiori spiegazioni, fatecelo sapere al momento della prenotazione e le riferiremo.
A che velocità vai? 🐴
Prevalentemente una passeggiata rilassante, a causa del terreno roccioso, che si adatta perfettamente ai principianti. Se siete cavalieri esperti, fatecelo sapere e, dove il fondo è sicuro, ci sarà spazio per un piccolo trotto.
C'è un limite di peso o di età? ⚖️
Sì. L'età minima è 6 anni e il limite di peso è 95 kg per il benessere dei cavalli. Se siete vicini al limite, scriveteci prima di prenotare.
Cosa dovrei indossare e portare con me? 👖
Abiti comodi, scarpe chiuse (niente pantaloncini, costumi da bagno o piedi scalzi), protezione solare e acqua. Al centro sono disponibili armadietti per le vostre cose, con una piccola cauzione rimborsabile.
Quanto dura il viaggio e quale dovrei scegliere? ⏱️
Il Sentiero Vulcanico di 1 ora è un ottimo assaggio ed è ideale per i principianti o per i cavalieri più giovani. Il Percorso al Mare di 2 ore è il preferito, perché raggiunge la costa e, se le condizioni lo permettono, il mare. In caso di dubbio, optate per quello di 2 ore.
Ci sono servizi di ritiro, parcheggi o punti di ristoro? 🚐
C'è un parcheggio gratuito e un ristorante proprio al centro. Il servizio di prelievo facoltativo in hotel costa 10€ a famiglia (andata e ritorno), disponibile in tutto il sud di Tenerife, da Callao Salvaje a El Médano.

- A small deposit reserves your ride, and the rest is paid on the day at the centre (cash or card).

- Cancelli dopo la finestra gratuita, ma più di 24 ore prima? Perdi la caparra. Non paghi nient'altro.
- Annulli tra le 12 e le 24 ore prima? Perdi la caparra e paghi comunque 80% degli altri. Vi invieremo un link di pagamento.
- Cancellando con meno di 12 ore di preavviso, non presentandosi o arrivando troppo in tardi, si perde la caparra e si paga comunque il riposo completo (100%). Vi invieremo un link di pagamento.
- Il nostro partner prenota e ci addebita comunque il costo del vostro alloggio, quindi la sola caparra non potrà mai coprire una cancellazione tardiva o un mancato arrivo.
L'unica eccezione
- L'unica eccezione è un vero certificato medico o un documento ospedaliero che attesti l'impossibilità di partecipare, datato prima dell'attività o la stessa mattina. Non sentirsi bene senza di esso non è sufficiente per un rimborso. Sappiamo che questa regola è severa e ce ne scusiamo, ma è l'unico modo in cui possiamo proteggerci dalle cancellazioni dell'ultimo minuto.

- Horse riding is a real activity with real animals in natural terrain. You take part a proprio rischio e pericolo and must follow the guide's safety instructions at all times.
- Once the ride starts, it is operated by the local equestrian centre, which is licensed and insured and responsible for the horses, safety and insurance. Club Canary acts only as a booking agent and is not responsible or liable for any accident, injury or incident during the ride.
- Anyone under the influence of alcohol or behaving unsafely may be refused without a refund. Respect for the horses and staff is required.
Weight & Weather
- The weight limit is 95 kg for horse welfare, and the minimum age is 6. Guests arriving over the limit may be refused without a refund.
- If the ride is cancelled for unsafe weather, you get a new date or a full refund. Riding into the sea depends on sea conditions and cannot be guaranteed.
