Horse Riding Tenerife, Volcanic Trails To The Sea
See a wild, different side of Tenerife on horseback. Setting out from a real equestrian centre in the south, you ride through dry volcanic countryside, cactus and lava fields, out towards the rugged Atlantic coast near Montaña Amarilla. On the 2-hour Route to the Sea, if the sea and safety allow, you can even ride your horse into the shallow water, a genuine highlight. This is not a white-sand beach, it is a raw black-lava coast with ocean views, and that is exactly what makes it special and very Canary Islands. All levels are welcome, with a calm horse matched to you, in small groups.
Volcanic countryside, black-lava coast, and horses that walk right into the Atlantic. A real Tenerife ride.
Horse Riding Tenerife, From A Real Equestrian Centre
This is not a quick pony loop. The ride sets out from an established equestrian centre in the south of Tenerife, a proper stable with an arena, well-cared-for horses and a restaurant on site. From there, a guide leads you out into the open volcanic countryside, past cactus, tabaiba and lava fields, towards the coast. It is a genuine, scenic way to see a part of the island most visitors never reach.
The horses are calm and matched to each rider, so it works for complete beginners and for people who have ridden before. First time on a horse? You get a gentle, reliable horse and simple guidance before you set off, and the horses follow the guide. Ridden before and want a bit more? Tell us your level, and where the terrain is safe there may be room for some trot.

The one people talk about. You ride through the volcanic countryside all the way to the Atlantic coast near Montaña Amarilla, and when the sea and safety allow, you can take your horse into the shallow water, a moment you will not forget. It is a black-lava and pebble coast, not sand, and the ocean views are the payoff. Daily departures at 10:00 and 14:00.
✅ Great for: couples, families, and anyone who wants the full experience with the coast and the sea.
A shorter, peaceful ride through the volcanic countryside and typical Canarian vegetation near the centre. It is perfect for a first time on a horse or for younger riders, giving you the scenery and the feel of the ride without a long time in the saddle. Daily departure at 12:30.
✅ Great for: first-timers, families with children, and anyone short on time.
⚠ Before You Book, A Few Honest Notes
- The guides: they are local and friendly and speak mainly Spanish, with some English. The instructions are simple and the horses follow the guide, so almost everyone manages easily, but if you would like more explanation, tell us when you book and we will pass it on.
- The pace: because of the rocky terrain, most of the ride is a relaxed walk. Confident riders may get a little trot where it is safe, so tell us your level.
- Into the sea: on the 2-hour ride you can enter the shallow water only if the sea and safety allow on the day. It is a lovely bonus, but it cannot be promised.
- The coast: this is a rugged black-lava and pebble shore, not a white-sand beach. That is the real, wild Tenerife, and it is beautiful.

Tenerife Horse Riding, Frequently Asked Questions
The questions people ask most, from the ride into the sea to what to wear. Still unsure? Message our local team on WhatsApp, nous aidons rapidement.
Comfortable clothes, closed shoes (no shorts, swimwear or bare feet), sunscreen and water. There are lockers at the centre for your things, with a small refundable deposit.
How long is the ride and which should I pick? ⏱️
The 1-hour Volcanic Trail is a great taster and ideal for first-timers or younger riders. The 2-hour Route to the Sea is the favourite, because it reaches the coast and, conditions allowing, the sea. If in doubt, go for the 2-hour.
Is there pickup, parking or food? 🚐
There is free parking and a restaurant right at the centre. Optional hotel pickup is 10€ per family (round trip), available across south Tenerife from Callao Salvaje to El Médano.

- You cancel between 12 and 24 hours before? You lose your deposit, and you still pay 80% of the rest. We send you a payment link.
- You cancel less than 12 hours before, you do not show up, or you arrive too late? You lose your deposit, and you still pay the full rest (100%). We send you a payment link.
- Our partner reserves and charges us for your place either way, so the deposit alone can never cover a late cancellation or no-show.
La Seule Exception

Annulation

- The weight limit is 95 kg for horse welfare, and the minimum age is 6. Guests arriving over the limit may be refused without a refund.
- If the ride is cancelled for unsafe weather, you get a new date or a full refund. Riding into the sea depends on sea conditions and cannot be guaranteed.
Expectations
- Please read the description first. This is a volcanic-countryside and black-lava coast ride, not a white-sand beach experience, the pace is mostly a relaxed walk, and the guides speak mainly Spanish with some English. If you have any issue during the ride, tell the guide on-site.

This is a lovely, different way to see Tenerife. You ride out from a real equestrian centre through volcanic countryside and lava fields to the Atlantic coast, and on the 2-hour ride, if the sea is calm, you can take your horse right into the shallow water. That moment is the one people remember.
We will be straight with you, because that is how you end up happy: this is a black-lava coast, not a sandy beach, the pace is mostly a calm walk, and the guides speak mainly Spanish with some English. None of that gets in the way, the horses do the talking, but it is good to know before you go. Book the 2-hour Route to the Sea for the full experience, and message us first with any question in your language.
Volcanic trails, black-lava coast, horses in the Atlantic. Very Tenerife.
