The Whale Watching Guarantee, How It Works
Yes, it is real, and it counts for dolphins too. The whales you normally see are pilot whales. Sometimes, if you are lucky, sperm whales or other species. Please remember, this is not a zoo. A sighting can be a group close to the boat, or simply fins breaking the surface. The crew cannot make whales jump on command. What we can promise is that this is one of the best places in the world to see them.
If you book the guarantee and the crew confirms there were no sightings, Club Canary refunds your trip cost in full, minus the insurance fee and any optional upgrades.

No, do not worry. This is a calm, comfortable trip, not a sporty sailing challenge. The boat mostly runs on the motor and does not tip over on its side. You need zero sailing experience. Should we pick 3, 6 or 9 hours?
The 3-hour trip is the most popular. It is plenty of time to find whales and dolphins and enjoy a swim and snorkel break near Puerto Colón. Pick 6 hours if you want to sail on to the Los Gigantes cliffs. Pick 9 hours for the full day, reaching Masca too, with longer breaks and time for some proper sailing.
One thing to know: please choose your hours when you book. You cannot add extra hours on the day and pay on board. The Atlantic Star is a very popular boat and also runs normal shared trips, so it has new guests waiting for the next slot. If you think you might want longer, book the longer option from the start.

Yes. The deck has side protection, and on a private trip you are always right next to your children. The real risk of a fall is very small. The boat stays calm and does not lean over, so it feels safe and easy. Most kids have a brilliant time.

How far in advance should we book the private trip?
Book as early as you can. This boat also runs shared trips daily, so private days fill up fast. Last-minute requests (less than 14 days) depend on availability. Our online calendar is not always fully up to date, so for a close date, message us first on WhatsApp to check.
Where does the private Atlantic Star leave from?
From Gate 0 at Puerto Colón, in Costa Adeje, in front of the Yubari sushi restaurant. It is a short walk or quick taxi from Costa Adeje and Playa de las Américas. There is parking at the port, around 1.20€ per hour, and your crew meets you at the gate.

Thank you for choosing the Atlantic Star for your private day at sea with Club Canary. These terms keep things fair and clear, so every trip runs smoothly. Please have a quick read before you book.
Deposit a platba
A small deposit secures your private booking. You pay the balance on the day, preferably in cash to the crew. The deposit holds your spot but does not cover lost time if you do not show up.

More than 72 hours before: free cancellation or rescheduling. Email office@clubcanary.com.
48 to 72 hours before: you lose your deposit.
12 to 48 hours before: lost deposit, plus 45€ per booked hour.
Less than 12 hours before, or a no-show: 70€ per booked hour. This covers the minimum cost of the lost trip.
Whale Watching Guarantee Terms (Optional)
The guarantee is an optional add-on. It covers whales and dolphins, you are guaranteed to see at least one of the two. Specific species are not promised, but most encounters are pilot whales.
These are wild animals. A sighting can be a group near the boat, or simply a fin within 30 meters. That counts as a successful sighting.
If the trip returns early due to severe seasickness, the guarantee fee is refunded. There is no further compensation for not spotting whales, as this is beyond our control.
If adverse weather or an unexpected event changes the trip, the guarantee may not apply. We will discuss alternatives with you.
If you took the guarantee and saw no whales or dolphins, you get a free private trip or a full refund (minus the fee and any upgrades), decided with the guide before docking. We process this based on the captain's confirmation and any photos. We fully trust the Atlantic Star crew.

You sail out toward the channel between Tenerife and La Gomera, where the pilot whales usually are. After spotting the animals, the boat anchors at a beautiful bay called El Puertito for a swim and snorkel break. Then back to Puerto Colón. Perfect for 3 hours, and the same route the shared trips follow.
6 hodín
Everything above, plus time to sail on to Los Gigantes, the famous cliffs. Stop for a break there, then cruise back. A lot more time on the water.
9 Hours
The full day. Reach Los Gigantes and Masca, enjoy longer swimming and snorkeling breaks, and extended whale and dolphin watching. There is even time for some proper sailing if you want it.
