Private Atlantic Star, Quick Facts
Private Boat Trip Tenerife With Whale Guarantee
If your reason for a private boat trip in Tenerife is to see whales and dolphins, this is the one. The Atlantic Star is a comfortable sailing yacht for up to 10 guests, departing Puerto Colón in Costa Adeje with the official whale watching licence, the yellow flag with the blue boat logo. No strangers, no crowds. And it is the only private boat here where a money back sighting guarantee can be added.
We are honest below about what a sighting actually looks like, because it is not a zoo and nobody should book expecting one. Scroll on, we hold nothing back.
Club Canary is the only agency that lets you add a money back sighting guarantee on this boat: no whales or dolphins, and you get your money back or a free rebooking. No hotel, tour operator or big booking site offers that. Reserve with a small deposit, pay the rest on the day, and plan your whole day with real people on WhatsApp from 08:00 to 22:00. Best Price Guarantee included. Rated 4.8/5 from 1,360+ verified reviews.
The whole boat from 525€. Choose 3, 6 or 9 hours in the booking calendar.
⚠️ The yellow flag matters. In Tenerife, only boats with the official whale watching licence may approach the animals. The Atlantic Star is one of the few private boats that carries it, so look for the yellow flag with the blue boat logo. Your sightings are done legally and respectfully, and a boat without that flag legally cannot take you near a pod.
Atlantic Star Charters, The Boat Club Canary Books Ourselves
Want a private whale watching boat in Tenerife, relaxed, with just your own group? This is the one we book for ourselves. The whole sailing yacht is yours: sunbathe, nap, chat, or just watch the water while the captain and host handle everything.
It is comfortable for 10 guests, and the sweet spot is around 6 to 8, so everyone has room to lie down. To hire the Atlantic Star in Tenerife you book the whole boat, not a seat, which is why an Atlantic Star private boat trip feels nothing like a group excursion. Watch the trip on video to get the feel of it.

📸 "Nobody photobombing me." When the whole boat is yours, you shoot your family, your partner and the views. No strangers in the frame.
Is There A Private Boat In Tenerife With A Whale Watching Guarantee?
Yes, and the Atlantic Star is the only one, booked through Club Canary. It is the one Tenerife boat hire with whale guarantee attached, and the only guaranteed whale sighting private boat on the island. If marine life is your priority you are not gambling your day: see whales or dolphins, or get your money back on the trip, or a free rebooking. The optional guarantee is added in the booking calendar, priced per trip length.
It covers whales and dolphins. You are guaranteed to see at least one of the two. The whales you normally see are pilot whales, and on very lucky days sperm whales or other species.
Honest expectations. This is not a zoo. A sighting can be a group close to the boat, or simply fins breaking the surface within 30 metres. The crew cannot make whales jump on command. What we can promise is that these are some of the richest whale watching waters anywhere.
If you see neither. You get a free private trip, or a refund of the trip cost minus the guarantee fee and any upgrades, decided with the guide before docking. Full terms are in the Policy fold below.
Why nobody else offers it. A guaranteed whale sighting on a private boat means the agency carries the risk if the ocean is quiet. We do it because we know these waters and we have the numbers to back it.
Private Whale And Dolphin Watching Tenerife, What You Actually See
On a Tenerife private whale watching tour like this one, sometimes called a whale watching private charter Tenerife wide, the Atlantic Star heads for the waters between Tenerife and La Gomera, where pilot whales live all year round and dolphins show up often too. From the boat you usually see fins and backs breaking the surface, sometimes very close, while the crew shares what they know about the animals.
That is the honest picture of private dolphin and whale watching in Tenerife. No performances, no feeding, just wild animals in their own water and a licensed boat that keeps a respectful distance.

From the deck 🐋 This is how they look from the boat. You often come a little closer than this.
Meet The Pilot Whales
This is how the pilot whales look up close. To be clear, you will not see them underwater like this on the trip, we added the photo so you know what these animals are like. They travel in family groups, mothers with their young, sometimes 20 or more together.

The locals, up close 🐬 Pilot whales are not very big, so guests sometimes think they are dolphins. Very lucky days bring sperm whales.
Relax Your Way, It Is Your Boat
Sail out along the Costa Adeje coast on soft cushions. Sunbathe, nap, chat, or just watch the water. There is no fixed programme and no strangers to share with, so you take it slow while the crew looks for whales and dolphins.
Blankets come out on cooler winter trips, the deck is barefoot, and your music plays over Bluetooth if you like.

Room to actually lie down 😎 The boat takes up to 10 guests, but the sweet spot is 6 to 8, so everyone gets a cushion spot.
Choose Your Trip Length, 3, 6 Or 9 Hours
Three private formats, one boat. Live prices for each are in the booking calendar, so what you see there is always current.
3 Hours
- The classic route: Puerto Colón, the whale waters toward La Gomera, then El Puertito bay.
- A swim and snorkel break in the calm bay, then back to port.
- The same route the shared trips follow, just all yours.
Enough for the whales and a swim.
6 Hours
- Everything above, plus time to sail on to Los Gigantes, the famous cliffs.
- A stop there, then a cruise back.
- Considerably more time on the water.
Where it stops feeling short.
9 Hours, Full Day
- Reach Los Gigantes and Masca, with longer swimming and snorkelling breaks.
- Extended whale and dolphin watching.
- Even time for some proper sailing if you want it.
A whole day at sea.
Food And Drinks Included
Fresh sandwiches and snacks are always included, with gluten-free options on request. So are unlimited drinks: water, soft drinks, white wine, beer, sangria and cava. Eat during the swim break, or earlier, whenever suits your group.

Always included 🥪 Fresh sandwiches, snacks and unlimited drinks, with wine, sangria and cava, on every private trip.
Want To Celebrate? Add Special Extras
Making it a celebration? You can pre-order extras that come fresh from a local restaurant: pizza, paella or sushi, plus a birthday cake or Moët champagne to toast on board. Ordered before departure and paid on arrival, with live prices in the booking calendar. Add them when booking or in your order note.
Note that extras are not refundable and are not covered by the sighting guarantee.

Make it a celebration 🎂 Sushi, pizza or paella, restaurant-fresh and pre-ordered, plus a cake or Moët to toast on board.
Families, Couples And Everyone In Between
A private boat suits different groups for different reasons, so here is the honest breakdown rather than one line claiming it works for everybody.
Family Private Whale Watching
- Calm, private and relaxed, never a loud party boat.
- Side protection on the deck, and you are always right next to your children.
- Space to move, a swim stop to cool off, and a crew that includes the kids.
- Arguably the best private boat trip Tenerife for families offers, and one of the easiest days out you can book here.
Parents can actually relax.
Romantic And Couples
- A Tenerife private boat trip for couples: anniversaries, birthdays and quiet days out for two.
- And yes, marriage proposals. Add champagne and a cake and the crew helps make the moment.
- For a Tenerife romantic private whale watching trip, ask about a private sunset trip too.
A romantic private boat trip in Tenerife, done simply.
Small Private Sailing Boat, Relaxed Rather Than Extreme
Worried it is hardcore sailing? Do not be. This is a calm, comfortable trip rather than a sporty challenge: the boat mostly runs on the motor, does not tip over on its side, and you need zero sailing experience. The crew often puts the sail up just for the feeling of it.
Want a real Tenerife private sailing trip whale watching style, sails properly up for the fun of it? That is possible too, just mention it in your order note. Otherwise simply relax and enjoy. It is a small private sailing boat rather than a yacht charter, which is exactly why it feels personal.
Private Boat Trip Puerto Colón, Where You Board
You board at Puerto Colón, Gate 0, in front of the Yubari sushi restaurant, in the heart of Costa Adeje. Be there 15 minutes before departure and your crew will meet you.
Costa Adeje. You are on the doorstep, so a Costa Adeje private boat trip needs no transfer at all.
Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos. A short taxi or drive along the coast.
Parking. Available at the port at around 1.20€ per hour.
Maps. Open Gate 0 in Google Maps. It is easy to find once you are inside the marina.
Also at Puerto Colón. If you want something larger and more polished, the Tigresa Azimut 60 berths in the same marina.
What Is The Best Private Boat Trip For Whale Watching In Tenerife?
Honest answer: it depends what you weigh most. If whales are the priority, this is the one, because it is the only private boat where the sighting is guaranteed and it carries the official licence.
If you want a larger, more polished yacht, the Tigresa is the better fit. If you are comparing it against the best whale watching boat hire Tenerife has generally, this wins on the guarantee alone. And if you do not need the whole boat, the shared small group trip on the same yacht costs far less. We would rather point you at the right one than sell you the biggest.
And it is genuinely the private trip we book for ourselves: when friends or family visit, our founder Roy and much of the team rent the Atlantic Star privately and head out together.

The founder's pick ⭐ Roy and the Club Canary team rent this exact boat privately when friends and family visit. That is the real review.
Where Is The Best Place To Book A Private Whale Watching Trip?
Book direct with Club Canary, the local team in Costa Adeje. We are the only agency offering the sighting guarantee on this boat. A small deposit reserves your date, the balance is paid on the day, preferably in cash to the crew, and we plan the whole day and the extras with you on WhatsApp.
Do not need the whole boat? Join the shared small group trip on the Atlantic Star instead. Want a bigger yacht? The Tigresa. Or compare all whale watching tours in Tenerife. More than 10 guests? Email events@clubcanary.com.

Private Charter Questions (FAQ)
The questions people ask us most about a private whale and dolphin watching trip on the Atlantic Star. Still unsure? Chat with our local team on WhatsApp, we help fast.
What is the best private boat trip in Tenerife for families?
The Atlantic Star is one of the best private boat trips in Tenerife for families. It is calm and relaxed, never a loud party boat. Kids usually love it. There is space to move, a swim stop to cool off, and a friendly crew that keeps everyone happy. Because it is private, parents can fully relax.
To be honest about value: if you have a big budget and want pure luxury, we do have higher-end yachts too. But in the mid-range, starting around 500€ for the whole boat, this is the best private trip for families. Great experience, fair price, no need to overspend.
Is there a private boat in Tenerife with a whale watching guarantee?
Yes, and the Atlantic Star is the only one. Booked through Club Canary, you can add an optional money-back guarantee. No whales or dolphins? You get your money back on the trip, or a free rebooking. The fee is 120€ for 3 hours, 170€ for 6 hours and 200€ for 9 hours. No hotel or big site dares to offer this.
How many people fit on the private Atlantic Star?
Up to 10 guests, and the whole boat is yours. It is comfortable for 10, but it is not a huge boat. The sweet spot is around 6 to 8 people, so everyone has room to lie down and relax. Got more than 10? Message us and we will sort something out.
Is the private Atlantic Star good for couples or a marriage proposal?
Absolutely. Because it is fully private, it is perfect for couples, anniversaries and birthdays. It is even booked for marriage proposals. Add champagne and a cake, and the crew helps make the moment special. For something extra romantic, ask us about a private sunset trip.
Will we really see whales or dolphins?
Very likely, yes. Pilot whales live in these waters all year round, and dolphins show up often too. Nothing in nature is 100% certain, which is exactly why you can add the optional money-back guarantee. If seeing them matters to you, add it and relax.
Is it scary sailing? Will the boat tip over?
No, do not worry. This is a calm, comfortable trip, not a sporty sailing challenge. The boat mostly runs on the motor and does not tip over on its side. You need zero sailing experience. The crew often puts the sail up just for the nice feeling. Want real sailing for fun? Just ask in your order note.
Should we pick 3, 6 or 9 hours?
The 3-hour trip is the most popular. It is plenty of time to find whales and dolphins and enjoy a swim and snorkel break near Puerto Colón. Pick 6 hours if you want to sail on to the Los Gigantes cliffs. Pick 9 hours for the full day, reaching Masca too, with longer breaks and time for some proper sailing.
One thing to know: please choose your hours when you book. You cannot add extra hours on the day and pay on board. The Atlantic Star is a very popular boat and also runs normal shared trips, so it has new guests waiting for the next slot. If you think you might want longer, book the longer option from the start.
Is the private boat trip safe for kids?
Yes. The deck has side protection, and on a private trip you are always right next to your children. The real risk of a fall is very small. The boat stays calm and does not lean over, so it feels safe and easy. Most kids have a brilliant time.
What food and drinks are included, and can we add more?
Fresh sandwiches and snacks are included, plus unlimited drinks: water, soft drinks, white wine, beer, sangria and cava. Gluten-free options on request. Want to make it special? You can pre-order pizza, sushi, paella, a birthday cake or Moët champagne, ordered fresh before departure.
How far in advance should we book the private trip?
Book as early as you can. This boat also runs shared trips daily, so private days fill up fast. Last-minute requests (less than 14 days) depend on availability. Our online calendar is not always fully up to date, so for a close date, message us first on WhatsApp to check.
Where does the private Atlantic Star leave from?
From Gate 0 at Puerto Colón, in Costa Adeje, in front of the Yubari sushi restaurant. It is a short walk or quick taxi from Costa Adeje and Playa de las Américas. There is parking at the port, around 1.20€ per hour, and your crew meets you at the gate.
Why does Club Canary recommend this private boat?
Honestly? Because we book it ourselves. When our own friends and family visit Tenerife, our founder Roy and the team rent the Atlantic Star privately and head out together. It is comfortable, personal, family-friendly, and the only private boat with the optional money-back guarantee. If whales are your priority, this is the one.
Booking last minute or a date looks full? Always double check real availability with us first, we can often still fit you in.

Club Canary's Honest Take
Real talk from your local team in the Canary Islands
Real talk: this is a boat we book ourselves. When our own friends or family visit Tenerife, our founder Roy and much of the team rent the Atlantic Star privately and head out together. That is how much we rate it.
If you love nature and want an easy, private day to spot whales and dolphins, this is the one: comfortable, personal and family-friendly, with the routes, the crew and the calm that make it work. And it is the only private boat in Tenerife with the optional money back sighting guarantee, so your day is never a gamble on the ocean being busy.
Two honest things. It is a sailing boat rather than a polished yacht, so if you want gleaming decks and a flybridge, the Tigresa is your boat. And a sighting can genuinely just be fins at thirty metres. That still counts, and it is still remarkable, but nobody here is promising a whale jumping over your bow.
If whales are your priority, this is the private trip Club Canary would book. Your boat, your people, their ocean.
