La Gomera Day Trip, Quick Facts
La Gomera Day Trip From Tenerife
If you want to visit La Gomera and actually see the island in one day, this is a great-value way to do it. Ferry, guided bus tour, guide and lunch are all included, with hotel pick-up in the south of Tenerife. It is not a fancy trip, but it is well organised and reliable, and it is the same tour big operators and hotel desks charge a lot more for. The tour runs every day, even with low numbers, so your date is secure. Prefer to make your own way to Los Cristianos harbour by 08:30? That works too, and is often the smoothest start.
Why book a La Gomera day trip through a big anonymous platform? Club Canary lives in the Canary Islands, knows the island and the guides in person, and guarantees the best price.
Reserve your La Gomera trip from Tenerife with a small deposit and get fast confirmation. Staying in Puerto de la Cruz? Pick-up runs on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday only, at 7€ extra per person, paid on arrival. Backed by our Best Price Guarantee. Club Canary is the booking agent and ticket issuer, the tour is run by licensed local partners. Rated 4.8/5 from 1,375+ verified reviews.
Adults 100€, children (2 to 11) 75€, with group discounts for 4 or more. You reserve with a small deposit and pay the rest on the day. A return ferry ticket alone usually costs tourists around 85€, so the full tour is real value.
Same trip the hotel desks sell, without the mark-up. A full island day for a fair price.
Thinking Of Visiting La Gomera From Tenerife?
If you are considering a trip to La Gomera, you will see plenty of offers, from your hotel, tour operators and online. Most are very similar, sometimes the exact same trip. The difference here is great value: this is one of the most economical ways to enjoy a proper La Gomera day trip, official and well organised, without overspending. Just know it is not a high-end VIP experience. If you want more comfort, we also offer a small-group La Gomera tour.
In general, a La Gomera excursion is a great choice, especially if you have already explored Tenerife. So if you want a solid La Gomera trip from Tenerife without paying extra for the same experience, this one is for you.
Start Your La Gomera Day Trip From Tenerife
Get ready for an early start. A comfortable bus picks you up around 7:00 am (around 6:00 am from the north, due to the distance to Los Cristianos). If you have your own car, we recommend going directly to Los Cristianos harbour, where you only need to arrive around 8:20 am. The ferry usually departs at 9:30 am, but passport checks and group check-in happen first, so some waiting time at the harbour is normal. This buffer makes sure the whole group is present and no one misses the crossing. It can feel early, but it keeps the day organised and smooth. The 50-minute crossing has seating areas, a cafeteria and sea views before your island tour begins.
Discover La Gomera On Our Guided Tour
Each package includes bus transport, lunch, a guide and ferry tickets, all at a fair price. You spend a full day taking in the beauty, culture and history of La Gomera. Remember a jacket, as the island can be cooler, especially in the forests and on the east side. Your day ends with a return to your hotel between 6 pm and 7 pm.
📍 What You'll See On The La Gomera Day Trip
Stop 1, Los Cristianos Ferry (09:30)
Check-in and boarding, then the crossing to La Gomera. The ferry departs 09:30 and arrives around 10:20. Time to relax and enjoy the sea views.
Stop 2, Scenic Bus Route + Viewpoints
Guided bus tour across the island, with stops like Hermigua, green valleys and classic viewpoints. Short photo stops along the way (about 10 to 25 min each).
Optional, Garajonay Forest Walk
An easy short walk in Garajonay National Park (optional). Comfortable shoes help, especially if it has rained, but it is not a must.
Stop 3, Lunch + Silbo Gomero
A three-course meal at a local restaurant in the Las Rosas area, with house wine and a drink. During lunch you also see the Silbo Gomero whistling language demonstration (about 75 to 85 min).
Stop 4, Chipude, El Cercado + Roque de Agando
More island highlights with classic photo views, including Roque de Agando. Short stops for pictures and fresh air (about 10 to 20 min each).
Stop 5, San Sebastián + Return Ferry (17:30)
Free time in San Sebastián (around 90 min). This buffer helps everyone arrive early for the ferry back. It departs 17:30 and arrives in Los Cristianos around 18:20.
Tour time: around 10 hours. Great for travellers who want a full La Gomera bus tour in one day, without paying private-tour prices.
La Gomera Trip: Expectations And Changes
Here is what you can expect. Sometimes things change a little, like the route or a planned stop, because of road works or weather. We always try to make sure you have a great time, but there are things we cannot control, and we cannot offer money back for these changes. We really want you to enjoy the trip, and so do our partners. Thanks for understanding if things have to change. It is still a great deal for a lovely day out.
🚢 Prefer A Smaller, Smoother Experience?
Our standard La Gomera tour is a large group experience (around 40 to 50 guests). Most travellers love it, but ferry excursions need early check-in, so there is normally some waiting time at Los Cristianos harbour in the morning, for safety and to make sure nobody misses the ferry.
If you prefer a more flexible start with less waiting and a smaller group, we recommend our VIP small-group option.

Important Information
- Total duration is around 10 hours, with an early start and an evening return. Your pick-up time and meeting point are on your ticket, and the schedule is strict so we never miss the return ferry.
- Passport or valid travel ID, mandatory for the ferry (normal passport control between islands).
- Sunglasses on sunny days, and a light jacket or hoodie, as La Gomera can be cooler, especially in the mountains and the Garajonay forest, which can be cloudy, rainy and colder even when Tenerife is warm.
- Comfortable shoes are enough. You do not need hiking shoes unless you want the short optional walk. If it rained, some paths can be muddy.
- You can bring your own snacks or drinks for the breaks.
- This is a larger group bus tour, so there is some free time in San Sebastián. This is intentional: the bus must reach the harbour early, with buffer time for traffic or delays, so everyone safely catches the ferry back.
- Lunch is a three-course local meal with house wine and a drink. Please keep expectations realistic, it is not a fancy lunch. The tour price is very low for what is included: a return ferry ticket alone usually costs around 85€, and for roughly 100€ you also get transport, a guide, the island tour and lunch. Most guests say the food is average and the views are beautiful.
- Tours run in several languages depending on demand. If there are not enough guests for one language, guides may combine languages on the same tour. If you want to check which languages run on your date, contact us before booking and we will double-check for you.
- This is a great-value La Gomera bus tour if you want to see the island without spending too much. Honestly though, we do not recommend La Gomera as a must-do on a first visit to Tenerife, which has a lot to explore itself. We usually suggest La Gomera for longer stays or second-time visitors.
- This day trip returns to Tenerife. If you stay on La Gomera or want a faster pace and smaller group, we recommend the La Gomera VIP small-group tour.
- You reserve with a small deposit and pay the rest later. Once confirmed, this tour is not cancelled for low numbers. For Puerto de la Cruz pick-ups, very large groups or custom arrangements, full payment may be required upfront due to ferry ticket costs.
Pick-Up Information
To keep everything smooth, be ready on time for your pick-up. This trip follows a tight schedule so everyone catches the ferry both ways. Your exact pick-up point and pin are on your e-ticket.
Pick-up Times, South Tenerife- San Miguel & El Médano: 07:05 to 07:20.

- Santa Cruz: 06:35 to 06:50.
- Prefer to come on your own? Meet the guide at Los Cristianos harbour between 08:05 and 08:40. This is a great choice if you have a car or stay outside the main areas, as you can sleep a bit longer and skip the early hotel pick-up.
- The return ferry departs around 17:30 and arrives in Los Cristianos around 18:20. From there the bus brings guests back to their hotels, so you can expect to be back around 19:00 or later. If you came by yourself, you are free right after arrival and do not wait for the bus drop-offs.
- Please enter the hotel name where you are staying, not an Airbnb or private apartment address. The bus uses hotel-based pick-up points in the main tourist areas.
- Staying in an apartment? Enter the closest hotel, and we arrange the nearest official pick-up point. In the main areas, pick-up points are always close by.
- After booking, you get a confirmation email with your exact pick-up time and location, how to recognise the bus, and a phone number for delays or questions.

Yes, La Gomera day trips are family-friendly and suitable for children. However, it's important to note that it can be a long tour, which might be a bit boring for younger children. We recommend considering the duration and nature of the tour when deciding whether it's suitable for your kids.
What is the best time of year for a La Gomera excursion?
Spring and fall are ideal for visiting La Gomera due to mild weather and fewer tourists. However, trips are available year-round.
Are there discounts for the La Gomera excursion?
Yes. Club Canary offers an online discount and additional group discounts for bookings of 4 people or more. We also regularly organise company outings and large group day trips to La Gomera, which makes this one of our most popular excursions.
This tour is known for offering very high value for money. For comparison, a standard return ferry ticket for tourists or non-residents often costs almost the same as this full excursion. With Club Canary, you also receive complimentary pick-up service, a complete guided bus tour on La Gomera, round-trip ferry tickets, a three-course lunch, and official local guides.
That combination is why so many guests book this tour through the Club Canary office and why it remains one of our best-selling La Gomera experiences.

The price of the La Gomera day trip is 100€ per adult and 75€ per child. These prices include the 15% discount offered by Club Canary. Additionally, prices may be lower for groups of four or more, making it an even more affordable option for group excursions.

Russian may be available depending on the day and demand. Club Canary works neutrally with local partners. At the moment, we prefer not to actively promote mixed-language tours including Russian, but some partners still offer it. If this is important for you, please contact us in advance so we can check the best option.
For any specific language request, we always recommend checking with Club Canary before booking to avoid surprises.
Is it possible to reserve the La Gomera day trip with just a deposit?
Yes, you can reserve the La Gomera day trip with just a deposit, which is also our preferred option. It makes booking easier and allows you to secure your place in advance. The remaining balance is paid on the day of the tour, directly to the guide, either in cash or by card.
Please note that paying only a deposit does not mean you can cancel last minute or simply not show up. We apply a strict cancellation policy, and the deposit never covers no-shows or late cancellations. We strongly recommend checking the policy section before booking to avoid misunderstandings.
Why should I go on a La Gomera day trip from Tenerife?
That’s a fair question, and the honest answer is: it depends on you. La Gomera is often recommended on travel websites, hotel desks, and by tour operators because it’s a higher-priced excursion. Ferry tickets are expensive, which means these trips generate good commission and steady cash flow for many sellers. That’s one of the main reasons La Gomera is frequently ranked high on “must-do in Tenerife” lists.
At Club Canary, we don’t see La Gomera as a must-do for everyone. The ferry crossing is long and not especially exciting, and Tenerife itself already offers a lot to explore. We usually recommend this trip for people who have visited Tenerife before and want something different, guests who enjoy history, nature, and guided sightseeing, or older travelers who prefer a relaxed, well-organised day without much physical effort. If you’re mainly looking for action, nightlife, or adrenaline, Tenerife itself has much better options.
What travel documents do I need for the La Gomera day trip?
You must bring a valid passport or official ID card. This is an official passenger check between islands. It’s not a different country, but authorities need to know exactly who is travelling. In case of emergencies, ferry operators must have a correct passenger list. Without a valid travel document, boarding the ferry is not possible.
Is there a lot of walking on this trip?
No. Walking is optional. This tour is very popular with older guests and people who prefer a relaxed pace. At stops, you can walk around if you like, but you can also stay near the bus, sit on benches, or simply enjoy the views. If you can walk a little, that’s more than enough.
What is included for lunch?
Lunch is included and consists of a three-course local meal with house wine and a soft drink or water. Please keep expectations realistic. This is not a luxury lunch, but it’s decent and filling. Most guests describe the food as average, while the restaurant views are very nice. Considering the tour price, it’s good value.
Is a La Gomera day trip a must-do when visiting Tenerife?
Honestly, no. La Gomera is a beautiful island, but we don’t recommend it as a must-do for first-time visitors to Tenerife. Tenerife itself has a lot to explore. We usually suggest this trip for people staying longer or visiting Tenerife for the second time.
Is a La Gomera trip suitable for young people?
It depends. This is a relaxed bus tour with sightseeing and stops. Many younger guests prefer more active experiences like jet skiing, quad biking, kayaking, or paragliding while in Tenerife. This La Gomera trip can still be enjoyed later in life, even at an older age.
Will this La Gomera tour be cancelled if there are not enough participants?
No. Once your booking is confirmed, the tour will not be cancelled due to low participant numbers. Club Canary works with high-volume local partners and operates this trip regularly. Your date is secure, which is something many cheaper or smaller operators cannot guarantee.
Why do so many websites call La Gomera a “must-do” in Tenerife?
Many websites promoting La Gomera tours are affiliate sites. They earn a percentage of the total booking price, and higher-priced excursions simply earn them more money. That’s why La Gomera is often pushed very hard online, sometimes without clear explanation of what the day actually involves.
La Gomera is a beautiful island, but it’s not something everyone needs to do on their first visit to Tenerife. At Club Canary, we prefer to be honest: this trip is best for travelers who already explored Tenerife or who specifically want a calm, cultural day trip to another island.
Where is the best place to book the La Gomera day trip?
The best place to book your La Gomera day trip is with Club Canary, mainly because we’re local, transparent, and focused on value. In reality, most hotels and tour operators sell exactly the same La Gomera bus tour, but usually for a much higher price. The difference is not the experience, it’s the margin.
With Club Canary, you get one of the best-value La Gomera trips available. Ferry tickets alone for tourists often cost almost the same as this full excursion, while we include pick-up service, a complete guided bus tour, round-trip ferry tickets, lunch, and official guides. That’s why this tour is so popular and why many guests book directly with us instead of through hotel desks.
If you have more budget and want a quieter, faster-paced experience in a smaller group, we honestly recommend upgrading to the La Gomera small group | VIP tour. It costs more, but the experience is more exclusive and relaxed. You can find that option here: https://clubcanary.com/tenerife/la-gomera-exclusive-small-group-day-trip/
Either way, booking with Club Canary means clear information, fair pricing, and no surprises.
Booking & Cancellation Policy
Deposit And Payment
- You reserve with a small deposit. You pay the rest on the day. The deposit is part of the total price.
Your Free Cancellation Window
- 1 to 3 people: free up to 72 hours before the trip.
- 4 to 7 people: free up to 5 days before.
- 8 or more people: free up to 8 days before.
- Big groups are hard to refill at the last minute. That is the only reason. The ferry tickets are bought in advance in your name. If your group only gets smaller, tell us at least 48 hours before and we lower the price. To cancel, email office@clubcanary.com.
After Your Free Window Closes
- You cancel after your free window, but more than 24 hours before? You lose your deposit. You pay nothing more.
- You cancel between 12 and 24 hours before? You lose your deposit, and you still pay 80% of the rest. We send you a payment link.
- You cancel less than 12 hours before, you do not show up, or you arrive too late? You lose your deposit, and you still pay the full rest. We send you a payment link.
- Our partner charges us the full price for your reserved places either way. That is why the deposit alone can never cover a late cancellation.
The Only Exception
- The only exception is a real doctor or hospital paper that says you cannot join. It must have a date from before the trip, or the same morning. A paper made after the trip does not count. We need this document for our partner. Feeling unwell without this paper is not enough for a refund. We know this is strict, and we are sorry, but it is the only way we can protect against last-minute cancellations.
The Ferry And Pickup
- If you miss the ferry, you do not get money back. Hotel pickup is free where we offer it. If you are not on a pickup route, please go to the harbour yourself in good time.
By Booking You Accept This
By booking with Club Canary, you confirm you have read and accepted this policy. It is not to make things difficult. It is what lets us offer easy booking with a small deposit in advance. A deposit alone does not cover the cost of a no-show or a last-minute cancellation. That is why these terms exist. If something genuinely goes wrong, talk to us. We will always try to find a fair solution.

Club Canary's Honest Take
Real talk from your local team in the Canary Islands
A La Gomera day trip from Tenerife is a beautiful experience, but in our honest opinion it is not a must-do if you are visiting Tenerife for the first time. Many hotels and operators will tell you otherwise, usually because the margins are higher on island excursions. We would rather be straight with you.
Our recommendation: see Tenerife first, the north, the south, Teide, the coast. Once you have done all of that, and especially if you come back to Tenerife regularly, a La Gomera excursion makes a lot of sense as a proper day out on a different island. Most people who have done it once say it was great, but they are not rushing back every year. It is a long day, ferry plus bus plus guide, and it makes the most sense once you have already explored Tenerife.
If you have already done La Gomera and want another island, we also run the same style of guided day trip to La Palma, all the details are on our La Palma excursion from Tenerife page. El Hierro is on our radar too, and if the ferry lines make it available again, we will publish that trip.
About this specific trip: Club Canary sells a lot of tickets for the La Gomera bus tour, and there is a reason. The price is genuinely good, the bus is comfortable, the guides know their stuff, and you only pay a small deposit upfront with the rest on the day. It is not a fancy trip, we will be clear about that, but for what you pay the standard is high and it is one of the better organised options on the market.
One last thing: booking is easy and flexible, but please check the policy first. If you decide not to go on the day or do not show up, the deposit does not cover that. We keep it fair for everyone, including the guides and operators who hold your spot.
See Tenerife first. Then come back for La Gomera. And when you do, book it with Club Canary.
