Tenerife to La Palma Day Trip

The trip runs twice a week, and the guiding language depends on the day.

• Friday: Spanish, English and German. The simplest choice for most international guests.
• Wednesday: Spanish.

If you want an English or German guide, book a Friday and select your language in the booking box.

Can you only travel on a Wednesday? Message us before you book. We work with a second partner on La Palma and can sometimes arrange an English-speaking guide on a Wednesday. We cannot promise it, but we will check your date and tell you honestly.

Our guides are multilingual and groups can occasionally be mixed when one language group is small. Booking early gives you the best chance of a dedicated group.

145€ per adult and 130€ per child aged 0 to 11, with the return fast ferry, the guided bus tour and lunch all included.

Travelling alone? The price is 160€. A single booking takes the same coordination, reservation handling and operational arrangements as a group, and those costs cannot be shared across several guests. Everything included is identical.

You pay in full when you book, which secures your ferry seats straight away.

Yes. Every guest leaving from Tenerife needs a valid original passport, or other identification accepted by the ferry operator, children included.

This is island-to-island travel with border checks at the ferry, so a photo or a copy on your phone is not enough. Without valid ID you cannot board, and there is no refund.

It is worth checking expiry dates the week before you travel. It is the single most common reason someone misses this trip.

Everyone sails from Los Cristianos harbour. Meet at the Fred Olsen ticket desk at 07:45, and the ferry leaves at 08:30.

Parking is easy at that time of the morning, and taxis to the port are cheap and reliable. Your exact meeting details come on your Club Canary ticket.

There is no hotel pickup on this trip, and we think that works in your favour. Pickup routes mean an early alarm and an hour on a bus collecting other hotels. Instead you make your own way to Los Cristianos harbour at your own pace, park nearby for a few euros, and start the day with a coffee rather than in a minibus.

Meet at the Fred Olsen ticket desk at 07:45. There is a cafe right by the terminal if you want breakfast first.

One exception: Puerto de la Cruz. Guests staying in the north face a long drive before sunrise, so we can arrange a pickup for 10€ per person. It is a special arrangement rather than a standard service: book your excursion first and add your hotel name, we confirm whether it is possible for your date, then we send a separate payment link for the supplement.

Lunch is included, at a local restaurant on the island.

Being straight with you: it is simple local food. Some guests really enjoy it and others find it basic, so keep your expectations sensible. It does the job on a long day out, but it is not a gourmet meal.

The day covers the island's main highlights. You start with a guided walk through the old town of Santa Cruz de La Palma, with its cobbled streets, wooden balconies and colonial architecture.

Then out to the Tajogaite volcano, formed by the 2021 eruption, where your guide explains how it reshaped the island and the lives of the people here. After lunch there is a short, peaceful stop at the Santuario de Las Nieves, the island's patron, before the ferry home.

The ferry leaves La Palma at 17:00 and you arrive back in Los Cristianos harbour around 19:30.

It is a full day out, from about 07:45 to 19:30, so plan a relaxed evening afterwards rather than booking anything else.

There is no refund. The crossing leaves on time with or without you, and a large part of the price is the ferry ticket, which is already paid and cannot be recovered.

This is exactly why we recommend coming straight to Los Cristianos harbour for 07:45, so traffic or a late start never catches you out.

It runs on selected Wednesdays and Fridays, depending on the ferry timetable. A morning crossing out and an evening crossing back on the same day is what makes this day trip possible, and schedules change through the year.

La Palma is also a niche destination, so in quieter months a departure may not reach the minimum number of guests. If that happens we contact you directly and offer a full refund or another date, your choice. No surprises.

Your passport or other accepted ID, comfortable shoes, sun protection and a little cash for extras.

Bring an extra layer. La Palma has microclimates and the weather can differ a lot between areas of the island, even when it is sunny in the south of Tenerife.

It works well for families. There is a child price for ages 0 to 11, and the day is mostly comfortable sightseeing by air-conditioned coach with easy walking at each stop.

No hiking and no particular fitness level needed, just comfortable footwear. Children do need their own valid passport or other accepted identification for the ferry, exactly like adults.

A genuine doctor or hospital letter covers the guest named on it, not the whole booking.

So if six of you book and one falls ill with valid documentation, that guest's share is refunded and the other five are still expected to travel. The reason is simple: their five ferry seats are already paid for and cannot be resold the day before.

The letter must be dated before the trip or the same morning, as we have to pass it to our partner. If something genuinely difficult happens, talk to us and we will always try to find a fair solution.
