Buggy Safari Fuerteventura, Off-Road In The Volcanic South

Your local guide leads the way along off-road tracks you are not allowed to drive in a normal rental car. This is an off road buggy excursion in the truest sense: you roll through open volcanic scenery, stop at a few quiet beaches and viewpoints for photos, and see a side of the island most visitors completely miss, without the stress of finding the spots yourself.

A Relaxed Adventure, Not A Race

Honest expectations: you drive at a safe, steady pace behind the guide and enjoy the views. Never driven a buggy before? The CAN-AM buggies are automatic and easy to handle, and you get a clear briefing before you set off.

CAN-AM Buggy Fuerteventura, A Family Buggy Tour For Up To Four

A small buggy fits 1 to 2 people, the bigger buggy fits 3 to 4, so families and small crews can ride together in one vehicle. Kids over 1.20 m join as passengers, and if two of you hold a full licence you can swap drivers and take turns at the wheel along the route.

Tours run with up to 5 buggies, so the group stays small, friendly and easy for the guide to look after. Nobody is stuck at the back of a twenty-vehicle convoy eating everyone else's dust.

Four seats, room for the crew 🎉 The bigger buggy fits up to four. Good for families or a group of friends who want to ride together.

Dune Buggy Hire In Fuerteventura, Or A Guided Safari?

Searching for dune buggy hire or buggy rental in Fuerteventura? Worth knowing what actually exists here before you book. You will not find a depot that hands over keys and lets you loose on the island, because the tracks this safari uses are closed to private vehicles. That restriction is exactly why a guided buggy excursion reaches places a rental car or a hired buggy never could.

So what you get is your own CAN-AM to drive for 2 or 3 hours, with a guide in front leading the route. You are driving, not being driven. It simply is not an unsupervised hire, and honestly that is the better deal here. People call them dune buggies, sand buggies or CAN-AMs, and it is all the same machine.

Do You Need A Licence For A Buggy In Fuerteventura?

To drive, yes. You need a valid full car licence and to be 18 or older. Provisional and learner licences are not accepted, and neither is an expired one. Bring the physical card, and if your licence only lives on your phone, bring an ID card alongside it.

Passengers need nothing at all. So in a group where only one person drives, everyone else just turns up. And if two of you both hold a full licence, you can swap at the wheel partway through. This is the question people get wrong most often, and turning up without the right document means no ride and no refund, so it is worth checking now rather than at the meeting point.

Buggy Tours From Costa Calma And Morro Jable

This is a buggy safari in south Fuerteventura, so everything starts from the CEPSA station at Matas Blancas, Costa Calma, and free pickup covers Costa Calma, Esquinzo and Morro Jable. If you are staying anywhere in the south of the island, this is the buggy tour that reaches you without a long transfer.

Buggy tour Costa Calma: you are closest to the start. Free pickup, or drive over and park for free.

Buggy tour Morro Jable and Jandía: pickup is included, so this is a buggy tour with pick up already covered. Just add your hotel name when you book.

Somewhere else on the island? Meet us at Matas Blancas. Parking there is free and easy to find.

  • 5Back At Base

    Dusty And Happy

Roll back in with sand in your shoes, dust on your smile, and the wild side of Fuerteventura in your camera roll.

Good to know: there is no toilet stop on the route, so go before you start. And you will get dusty. That is part of it.

Booking Buggies For A Group Or Company Event

Groups are where this works hardest, and there is one perk buried in the terms that is worth pulling out: book more than 3 buggies and your free cancellation window doubles from 48 to 96 hours. That matters when you are coordinating other people's holidays.

Up to 5 buggies per tour. On the 4-seat buggies that is up to 20 people, so a decent-sized group can effectively take the whole safari.

Only drivers need a licence. Everyone else rides as a passenger from 1.20 m, so a mixed group is no problem.

More than 3 buggies? Free cancellation extends to 96 hours before, instead of 48.

Private tours and company events. Whether you need 1 buggy or all 5, email events@clubcanary.com and we will build it around your group.

Specific dates or times? Some slots and bigger group bookings are confirmed by hand, so message us on WhatsApp and we check availability fast.

Tips Before Your Buggy Safari

Wear clothes and closed shoes you do not mind getting dusty, no flip-flops, and bring a light jacket, because it gets windy in an open buggy. Goggles are included, and a face scarf for the dust is handy at 7€, arranged with your guide on the day.

Bring your physical driving licence and ID, plus some water. Drivers need a valid full car licence and must be 18 or older. Provisional and learner licences do not count, and if your licence only lives on your phone, bring an ID card as well.

Buggy Safari Fuerteventura, Frequently Asked Questions

Everything people ask us before booking the Fuerteventura buggy safari. Still unsure? Chat with our local team on WhatsApp, a real local helps you out fast.

Do I Need a License to Drive a Buggy in Fuerteventura?

Yes. To drive, you need a valid full car license, a provisional or learner license won't work, and the minimum age to drive is 18. Bring your physical license, plus an ID card if your license is only on your phone. Passengers don't need a license and can be younger (kids over 1.20m can ride along).

How Much Does a Buggy Tour in Fuerteventura Cost?

The 2 hour trip starts at 120€ per buggy and the 3 hour trip starts at 160€ per buggy. The price is per buggy, not per person, so 1 or 2 people pay the same. With Club Canary you only pay a small deposit online to reserve, and the rest in cash to your guide on the day. No hidden booking fees.

Is the Price Per Buggy or Per Person?

Per buggy. A small buggy fits 1-2 people and a family buggy fits 3-4 people, all for one flat price. That means if you ride solo or bring a friend, the cost is the same. Great value when you share.

Where Do the Buggy Tours Start From?

All tours start from the CEPSA gas station at Matas Blancas, Costa Calma. View the meeting point here. Parking nearby is free and easy. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your start time.

Is Hotel Pick-Up Included?

Yes, free pick-up is available if you're staying in Costa Calma, Esquinzo or Morro Jable. Just add your hotel name or address when booking and we'll confirm your exact pick-up time. Outside these areas? No problem, you can meet us at the start point yourself.

Can Both People Drive the Buggy?

Yes. If you book a buggy and both people have a valid car license, you can swap drivers during the tour and take turns behind the wheel. Just let your guide know.

Can Kids Join the Tour?

Kids taller than 1.20m are welcome to join as passengers. Only drivers aged 18+ with a full car license can drive. It's a fun trip for families who want to enjoy the ride and the views together.

What Should I Wear and Bring?

Wear clothes and closed shoes you don't mind getting dusty, no flip-flops. Goggles are included to keep the dust out of your eyes. A scarf to cover your face is handy too (available for 7€), our guests always say it's worth it. Bring water, your license and ID, and your Club Canary ticket on your phone or printed.

Are Photos Included in the Buggy Tour?

No, photos are optional and offered by the guide on the day for around 25€, paid directly to them. Club Canary doesn't handle the photos, so any photo questions go to your guide during the tour. We like to be upfront so there are no surprises, if you'd like photos, just tell your guide at the start.

Is the Tour an Extreme Adrenaline Ride?

No, and we'd rather be honest about that. This is a scenic off-road adventure at a safe, steady pace (around 35km/h), built for fun and amazing views, not high-speed racing. It's perfect for couples, families and anyone who wants real off-road driving without the extreme. If you're dreaming of flat-out dune bashing, this isn't that tour, and we'd rather tell you now than have you disappointed.

What Happens if the Weather Is Bad?

Safety comes first. If the tour can't run due to dangerous weather, you'll be offered another date or a full refund. Easy and stress-free.

Can We Book Multiple Buggies for a Group?

Yes. You can book up to 2 buggies straight from the booking form, and we run up to 5 buggies per tour for small, friendly groups. Got a bigger group or want a special group rate? Message Club Canary on WhatsApp and we'll sort it out for you.

What Should I Wear and Bring?

Wear clothes and closed shoes you don't mind getting dusty, you will get dirty, that's part of the fun. Bring a light jacket or jumper too, as it gets windy and cool in the open buggy. A scarf to cover your face is very handy for the dust (available for 7€). Don't forget your driving license, ID, water, and your Club Canary ticket. Goggles are included.

Is There a Toilet Stop During the Tour?

No, there's no toilet stop on the route, so we recommend using the bathroom before your tour starts. There are facilities at the meeting point. The tour includes short photo and viewpoint stops along the way.

What Will We See on the Tour?

You'll cross from one side of southern Fuerteventura to the other, mixing off-road tracks with short road sections to reach hidden spots. Expect volcanic landscapes, dramatic coastline, quiet beaches and viewpoints you simply can't reach by car. The guide makes several short stops for photos and to take in the scenery.

What Languages Do the Guides Speak?

Our guides mainly speak English and Spanish. They're friendly, local, and know the best hidden spots on the island. You may see other places promise a German-speaking guide, since many German visitors love Fuerteventura, but we choose not to promise this, because guide availability can change and we never want you turning up disappointed. If you have a specific language need, message Club Canary before booking and we'll be honest with you about what's possible.

How Powerful Are the Buggies?

We use modern CAN-AM buggies that handle the off-road terrain with ease. They're automatic and easy to drive, no experience needed. The family (4-seater) buggy is spacious and comfortable for groups, ideal for enjoying the ride and the views together.

Where Is the Best Place to Book a Buggy Safari in Fuerteventura?

We may be biased, but booking with Club Canary is honest and easy. No fake discounts, no surprise costs, no false promises, just a clear price and a real local team you can message anytime. We do not include all of this to annoy anyone. Clear, honest rules keep everyone safe, treated fairly and free of nasty surprises. A late cancellation or no-show leaves a buggy empty that someone else could have enjoyed. Stick to these simple rules and we will all have a great time, while respecting the island we love.

One more thing. Every booking here comes with a free Club Canary collectible card. We email you the digital version, and the physical card is printed at our Costa Adeje office in Tenerife to collect in person if you island-hop. See The Collection.

Club Canary's Honest Take

Real talk from your local team in the Canary Islands

Real talk: if you are hunting for things to do in Fuerteventura, manage your expectations first. It is a quiet island. You come here to relax, enjoy the beaches, drink a cocktail, maybe try some surf. This buggy safari adds a bit of life and action to your holiday, and it is a fun way to see the landscapes and beaches you would otherwise drive straight past.

It is not a white-knuckle ride, and that is fine, because that is not what this island is about. Come with a relaxed attitude, enjoy the views and the dust, and you will have a really good time. Two practical things: there is no toilet on the route, and you will get dusty, so dress for it.

Book direct with Club Canary and you get a fair price, no hidden fees, a small deposit, and a real local team on WhatsApp.

One fun half-day that shows you the wild side of Fuerteventura. This is the one to book.
