Banana Farm Tenerife Questions and Answers
Why are bananas from Tenerife so special?
Tenerife bananas grow in volcanic soil and warm subtropical weather. This gives them a sweeter and richer flavor. Farmers still use traditional methods, so the fruit is picked at perfect ripeness and the quality stays high.
Is this a good low-budget activity in Tenerife?
Yes. The banana farm is one of the best low-cost activities in the south of Tenerife. You get entrance, a full walk around the plantation and tastings included.
How long does the Tenerife banana farm visit take?
Around 20 to 30 minutes for the walk. If you read the signs or take a lot of photos, you may take a bit longer. The tasting presentation adds around 15 minutes and is the highlight for many visitors.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, it is recommended. Since 2025 the farm is often fully booked, and same-day bookings are usually not available. Even next-day spots can be limited.
What is the difference between the self-guided tour and the guided tour?
The walking route is the same. The guided tour simply includes a staff member who walks with you, explains more and answers questions. It takes longer. Guided tours are only available on fixed days.
What tastings are included?
Usually fresh bananas, banana wine for adults, banana snacks and gofio. Tastings are included in your ticket and take place at 10:15, 11:15 and 12:15.
Is the banana farm good for children?
Yes. The route is short and easy, and the tasting session is fun for kids.
Can I bring a stroller or wheelchair?
Yes, both are allowed. Just note that the paths are not paved. They are sandy plantation roads, so wheels will get dusty. It is still accessible, but not like a city sidewalk.
Can I get dirty during the visit?
The ground is dusty and you may walk past spider webs or insects. It is a real working plantation, not a polished attraction. Your shoes may get dusty, but nothing extreme.
What souvenirs can I buy at the banana farm?
You can buy banana wine, banana jam, sweets and small Canarian products. Banana wine is the most popular item.
Is there parking available?
Yes. There is free visitor parking next to the plantation. A photo of the parking area is shown at the bottom of the page for reference.
Can school groups or large groups visit?
Yes. School groups and big private groups are welcome. Guided tours for groups are possible on the fixed guided days. Club Canary also offers group discounts for groups starting from six people.
Can I book the resident price?
Yes. Choose your date and time first, then scroll all the way down in the booking selector. After around forty adults, the resident ticket option appears. You must show your NIE at the entrance.
What if part of my group is resident and part is not?
Make two bookings. First book the non-residents and add it to your cart. Then return to the page, select the resident option, add it to your cart and complete both bookings together.
Can I visit without a booking?
You can try, but it is not guaranteed. Before 2025 walk-ins were normal. Now the farm works mainly on reservations and many days are full.
What is the best place to book the Banana Farm in Tenerife?
The most reliable option is booking through Club Canary. The process is fast and clear, you receive instant entry confirmation, and you also get a discount voucher for your next activity in Tenerife. We have worked closely with Finca Las Margaritas since 2019 and have sent many happy visitors to this banana farm.
In recent years, some big global tour websites that are not based in the Canary Islands also started selling tickets. We do not really recommend booking with companies that do not know the island or the experience well and just copy listings. It is always better to book with a local company like Club Canary or directly with Las Margaritas.
If you plan to do more activities in Tenerife, booking with Club Canary makes the most sense. You receive extra vouchers, personal recommendations and you get to know how we work and support our clients. We organise these experiences with care and love for the island.
