Freebird Catamaran, Quick Facts
The Whale Watching Classic, Booked The Smart Way
Most people already know the Freebird: it is the big, comfortable catamaran that has been doing licensed whale and dolphin trips from Puerto Colón for years. Watch the Freebird video and see the boat before you book, no sales pitch needed.
Honest expectations: in high season the boat feels lively and busy, some people love that atmosphere, others prefer smaller groups. Outside the summer months it is one of our favourite trips on the island, spacious, comfortable and relaxed. Staying in the north? You can also book the Freebird from Puerto de la Cruz.
3-Hour Classic Or 4.5-Hour Los Gigantes Cruise?
Same boat, same licensed crew, two very different days. Pick your pace.
- The compact classic: sail the south coast and search the whale and dolphin area with a licensed crew.
- Light refreshments included: a sandwich plus beer, soft drinks and water.
- Ideal if you want real whale watching without spending half your day at sea.
- The full cruise: extended whale and dolphin spotting, then along the Los Gigantes cliffs to Masca Bay.
- Lunch included: Huertano rice, bread and Canarian banana, plus beer, soft drinks, water and sangria. Special menus for celiacs and vegans on request.
- Scenery, swimming time and a more relaxed pace.
Freebird Gold Zone, The Front Sunbeds
One of the biggest reasons people choose the Freebird: the sunbeds at the front of the boat. They are never reservable in advance, they are arranged directly on board, first come, first served. A bed fits 2 people and costs 15€ on the 3-hour trip or 25€ on the 4.5-hour cruise. Board early, claim your spot, and the front row of the Atlantic is yours.
