The Same Sky, A Warm Local Team
Whichever option you pick, you get the same thing that makes this night special: the sunset above the clouds, then a properly dark sky through real telescopes, with guides who love the stars and explain what you are looking at. If your first-choice stargazing tour is fully booked, this is a genuinely great night out, not a compromise. Many guests tell us it was the highlight of their trip.
A Trusted Local Team, New On Club Canary
This tour is run by a well-established, highly rated local stargazing company, and Club Canary started working with them in September 2026. We chose them for a simple reason: they keep groups small and personal, with two guides and two telescopes, rather than loading everyone onto a big coach. Because the partnership is new, you will not see many Club Canary reviews on this page yet, but the team behind it has thousands of positive reviews on other travel platforms and has guided guests under the Teide sky for years.
Sunset Above The Clouds, Then The Stars
The evening starts high enough to look down on the clouds. As Mount Teide changes colour, you enjoy a glass of sparkling wine and watch the sun drop over the sea of cloud. Once it is dark, the group moves higher into the park, away from every light, where the guides set up the telescopes. On a clear night you can see the Moon in detail, Saturn, double stars, distant star clusters, galaxies and nebulae, and often the Milky Way with the naked eye.
Why Two Telescopes And Two Guides
Most stargazing tours share a single telescope, so you queue for one quick look. This tour runs two telescopes and two guides, and on the VIP tour the group splits into two smaller groups at the stargazing spot. That means more time at the eyepiece, more questions answered, and far less standing in line. More looking at the sky, less waiting your turn.
Why Teide Is One Of Europe's Darkest Night Skies
The stargazing happens high in Teide National Park, above most of the cloud layer and away from the coastal lights. The park holds an official Starlight certification for its protected night sky, and it is one of the clearest places to see the stars in Europe. It is also known as one of the finest spots on Tenerife to watch the sunset, which is exactly how this night begins.
Honest Expectations
Plan for around 3 to 5 hours in total. The start time changes with the season, always about 30 minutes before sunset, so it is earlier in winter and later in summer. It gets genuinely cold at altitude, even in summer, so bring warm layers, a jacket and closed shoes. The telescope part depends on the weather: if clouds roll in, the team reschedules you or gives a full refund.
