Banana Farm Tenerife Questions and Answers
Why are bananas from Tenerife so special?
Tenerife bananas grow in volcanic soil and warm subtropical weather. This gives them a sweeter and richer flavor. Farmers still use traditional methods, so the fruit is picked at perfect ripeness and the quality stays high.
Is this a good low-budget activity in Tenerife?
Yes. The banana farm is one of the best low-cost activities in the south of Tenerife. You get entrance, a full walk around the plantation and tastings included.
How long does the Tenerife banana farm visit take?
Around 20 to 30 minutes for the walk. If you read the signs or take a lot of photos, you may take a bit longer. The tasting presentation adds around 15 minutes and is the highlight for many visitors.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, it is recommended. Since 2025 the farm is often fully booked, and same-day bookings are usually not available. Even next-day spots can be limited.
What is the difference between the self-guided tour and the guided tour?
The route is the same. With the self-guided visit, you walk at your own pace using the information signs. Guided visits include a staff member explaining everything in more detail and are mainly available for groups of 4+ people. Guided tours are not booked through Club Canary.
What tastings are included?
Usually fresh bananas, banana wine for adults, banana snacks and gofio. The tasting takes place at the end of the visit, usually around 10:15.
Is the banana farm good for children?
Yes. The route is short and easy, and the tasting session is fun for kids.
Can I bring a stroller or wheelchair?
Yes, both are allowed. Just note that the paths are not paved. They are sandy plantation roads, so wheels will get dusty. It is still accessible, but not like a city sidewalk.
Can I get dirty during the visit?
The ground is dusty and you may walk past spider webs or insects. It is a real working plantation, not a polished attraction. Your shoes may get dusty, but nothing extreme.
What souvenirs can I buy at the banana farm?
You can buy banana wine, banana jam, sweets and small Canarian products. Banana wine is the most popular item.
Is there parking available?
Yes. There is free visitor parking next to the plantation. A photo of the parking area is shown at the bottom of the page for reference.
Can school groups or large groups visit?
Yes. School groups, business outings and private groups are welcome. Guided visits for larger groups can be arranged on request. You can contact Club Canary and we can help organise this for you.
Can I book the resident price?
Yes. Choose your date and time first, then scroll all the way down in the booking selector. After around forty adults, the resident ticket option appears. You must show your NIE at the entrance.
What if part of my group is resident and part is not?
Make two bookings. First book the non-residents and add it to your cart. Then return to the page, select the resident option, add it to your cart and complete both bookings together.
Can I visit without a booking?
You can try, but it is not guaranteed. Before 2025 walk-ins were normal. Now the farm works mainly on reservations and many days are full.
What is the best place to book the Banana Farm in Tenerife?
Booking through Club Canary is the easiest option. You receive instant confirmation, clear instructions and access to the 09:30 entry through our special collaboration with Finca Las Margaritas.
Does it make sense to visit this banana farm if I stay in Puerto de la Cruz?
If you are already planning to explore the south of Tenerife, then yes, this banana farm is a nice and easy stop to add to your day. However, if you are staying in Puerto de la Cruz and want something closer, it usually makes more sense to visit a banana plantation in the north instead. In that case, we recommend this option: https://clubcanary.com/tenerife/banana-plantation-puerto-de-la-cruz/, which is much easier to reach and designed for visitors staying in north Tenerife.
On which days can I visit the banana farm?
Club Canary offers self-guided visits on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, with entry at 09:30. These days are available through our special collaboration with Finca Las Margaritas, making it easy to plan your visit in advance.
What happens if I arrive late?
If you arrive a little late, you can usually still enter the banana farm. However, we recommend arriving before 10:00. The tasting experience takes place around 10:15, which is the highlight of the visit. If you arrive too late, you may miss this part or entry may no longer be possible.
