Sea Safari Tenerife, Fast Whale And Dolphin Watching By Speedboat

The Sea Safari is a fast, small-group whale and dolphin watching trip by speedboat from Puerto Colon, on a 2-hour or 3-hour tour. It is eco-certified under the Barco Azul and AROC programs, capped at 11 guests, and departs daily from Gate 3. You head quickly out to where the animals are, watch whales and dolphins with a specialist captain, then stop in a calm south-coast bay to swim or snorkel (gear provided), with a snack, a drink and a fresh local banana. From 49€ per adult.

Straight talk below: since May 2025, port rules mean this boat no longer sails to Los Gigantes or Masca, so it is now a focused wildlife and snorkel trip closer to the south coast, not a coastline sightseeing cruise. It is fast and small, ideal if you want adventure and no crowds, and less so if you want a slow, big-boat day out.

Sea Safari Tenerife, A Fast Small-Group Wildlife Trip From Puerto Colon

The Sea Safari is a fast, small-group whale and dolphin watching adventure from Puerto Colon. Departing daily, this speedboat takes you quickly to the areas where the animals gather, to look for whales, dolphins and sometimes turtles. It is a strong choice if you want a dynamic Tenerife dolphin boat trip in a more personal setting, rather than a big-boat cruise.

Important update: since May 2025, due to new port regulations, the Sea Safari boat is no longer allowed to sail to Los Gigantes or Masca. The tour now focuses fully on whale and dolphin watching closer to the south coast of Tenerife, with a swim and snorkel stop in a calm bay along the way.

Departing From Puerto Colon

The trip departs from Gate 3 at Puerto Colon, between Costa Adeje and Playa de las Americas. Please arrive 15 minutes before departure for check-in and boarding. With a maximum of 11 passengers, this eco-certified speedboat is fast and focused on finding marine wildlife. Along the way you get sweeping views of Tenerife's south coast, including beaches, cliffs and Teide volcano, with La Gomera on the horizon.

The Sea Safari Boat Trip, Watching Plus A Snorkel Stop

The Sea Safari boat trip is wildlife watching plus time for swimming or snorkeling. The captain is a specialist in whale and dolphin sightings and shares information about the animals you meet along the way. After the watching, the tour stops at a calm bay such as Palm-Mar or La Caleta, depending on the weather, where you can swim or snorkel with equipment provided. During the break you get a snack, a drink and a fresh local banana from Tenerife's plantations. The 3-hour tour simply gives you more time on the water.

The Sea Safari Boat

The Sea Safari boat is fast and agile, and licensed under the official Barco Azul and AROC programs for responsible whale and dolphin watching in the Canary Islands. The small group size means a personal, respectful interaction with marine life, without the crowds. If you want a faster, more adventurous alternative to bigger catamarans like the Freebird whale watching Tenerife trip, the Sea Safari is a great fit.

Sea Safari Questions (FAQ)

The questions people ask most before booking the Sea Safari. Still unsure? Message our local team on WhatsApp, open daily 08:00 to 22:00.

Where does the Sea Safari depart from and how long is it?

The Sea Safari runs from Puerto Colon, Gate 3, as a 2-hour or 3-hour speedboat trip. The 2-hour tour departs around 09:30, 12:00 and 14:30, and the 3-hour around 10:00 and 13:30. Please arrive 15 minutes before for check-in. The boat returns to the same point, so your return is easy to plan.

Does the Sea Safari go to Masca or Los Gigantes?

No. Since May 2025, new port regulations mean the Sea Safari no longer sails to Los Gigantes or Masca. The trip now focuses fully on whale and dolphin watching closer to the south coast, with a swim and snorkel stop in a calm bay such as Palm-Mar or La Caleta, depending on the weather.

What do you do on the trip, and what is included?

You get around 2 hours of whale and dolphin watching with a specialist captain, then a swim and snorkel stop in a calm bay with masks provided. Also included: a snack, a fresh local Tenerife banana, soft drinks and water, life jackets on request, and a multilingual crew. It is eco-certified under the Barco Azul and AROC programs.

How much does the Sea Safari cost?

The 2-hour tour is 49€ per adult and 30€ per child (ages 3 to 13). The 3-hour tour is 60€ per adult and 40€ per child. You pay a small deposit online and the rest on the day. A minimum of 4 guests is needed for the trip to run.

Will we see whales and dolphins?

The waters off south-west Tenerife are home to resident dolphins and whales, and the fast boat gets you to them quickly, so the chances are genuinely good. They are wild animals, though, so sightings can never be guaranteed. The trip is licensed for responsible watching under the Barco Azul and AROC programs.

Can you swim and snorkel on the Sea Safari?

Yes. After the whale and dolphin watching, the boat stops in a calm bay such as Palm-Mar or La Caleta, depending on the weather, where you can swim or snorkel. Snorkel masks are provided. Bring swimwear, a towel and sunscreen. Swimming is optional, so you can simply relax on board if you prefer.

Is the Sea Safari good for families and people who get seasick?

Yes, it suits families, and children from age 3 are welcome. The boat is fast but the sea off the south coast is usually calm. If you get seasick easily, eat a light meal before the trip, avoid alcohol beforehand, and take a travel tablet about 30 minutes before departure. The 2-hour tour is a good choice if you prefer a shorter time on the water.

Booking & Cancellation Policy
In short: Cancel early and it is free. Cancel late or do not show up, and you pay the full price. This is because our partner charges us the full price either way.

Deposit And Payment

  • You reserve with a small deposit. You pay the rest on the day, before the boat leaves (cash or card). The deposit is part of the total price.

Your Free Cancellation Window

  • 1 to 3 people: free up to 48 hours before the trip.
  • 4 to 7 people: free up to 4 days before. 8 or more people: free up to 7 days before.
  • Big groups are hard to refill at the last minute. That is the only reason. If your group only gets smaller, tell us at least 48 hours before and we lower the price. To cancel, email office@clubcanary.com.

After Your Free Window Closes

  • You cancel after your free window, but more than 24 hours before? You lose your deposit. You pay nothing more.
  • You cancel between 12 and 24 hours before? You lose your deposit, and you still pay 80% of the rest. We send you a payment link.
  • You cancel less than 12 hours before, you do not show up, or you arrive too late? You lose your deposit, and you still pay the full rest. We send you a payment link.
  • Our partner charges us the full price for your reserved places either way. That is why the deposit alone can never cover a late cancellation.

Weather And Minimum Guests

  • This trip depends on safe weather. If it is cancelled for bad weather, you get a new date or a full refund.
  • A minimum of 4 guests is needed. If this is not met, you get a new date, another trip, or a full refund.

The Only Exception

  • The only exception is a real doctor or hospital paper that says you cannot join. It must have a date from before the trip, or the same morning. A paper made after the trip does not count. We need this document for our partner. Feeling unwell without this paper is not enough for a refund. We know this is strict, and we are sorry, but it is the only way we can protect against last-minute cancellations.

Being On Time

  • The boat leaves on time and your places stay reserved. If you miss the boat, you do not get money back. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before departure.

On The Day

  • If seasickness happens and the trip has to change, there is no refund. It is worth preparing in advance.
  • Any issue on the day must be raised with the captain or manager on board. Club Canary is the ticket seller and is not on the boat, so we cannot judge or refund a situation after the trip.
Example: two adults book the 2-hour tour for 98€ in total and pay a 38€ deposit. They cancel 15 hours before. The 38€ deposit is gone, and they still pay 80% of the remaining 60€, which is 48€.

By Booking You Accept This

By booking with Club Canary, you confirm you have read and accepted this policy. It is not to make things difficult. It is what lets us offer easy booking with a small deposit in advance. A deposit alone does not cover the cost of a no-show or a last-minute cancellation. That is why these terms exist. If something genuinely goes wrong, talk to us. We will always try to find a fair solution.

By booking with Club Canary, you confirm you have read and accepted this policy. See the full terms above.

Club Canary's Honest Take

Real talk from your local team in the Canary Islands

The Sea Safari is for people who want speed and a small group, not a slow cruise. The fast boat gets you to the animals quickly, the captain knows the marine life, and the swim and snorkel stop in a calm bay is a nice way to break up the trip. Being capped at 11 keeps it personal and respectful around the whales and dolphins.

One honest note: since May 2025 it no longer runs to Los Gigantes or Masca, so if you specifically want those cliffs, a catamaran trip suits you better. For a fast, focused wildlife trip with a snorkel stop, though, this is a great pick, and it comes with our Best Price Guarantee and honest local support. Go for 2 hours to keep it short and sweet, or 3 hours for more time on the water.

Fast boat, small group, whales, dolphins and a snorkel stop, that is a legendary morning on the water.
